The only thing I can think of is a short in wires. It would be on the back side of the brake switch. That wire has some how come in contact with the ignition run wire. But for that to happen, when you start the car and it is running, the brakes lights in back would be on. Or could be really dim. Are they?
will it re-start right back up?
next time try to keep your foot on the gas pedal to see if it stay running ( be careful when you do this, if you give too much gas the car will over come the brake and cause accident )
if it stay running then you need to replace an idle air control valve
I would check the easy things first. That is the brake switch and the clutch switch (manual trans). Drive down the road and pull the brake pedal up with your foot and then try to set the cruise (same with the clutch pedal). Also the cruise requires that the brake light bulbs be in working order (and that there are no LED brake lights). Check fuse numbers 53 54 and 59.
The high beam problem might be related to the cruise issue, but I can't think of a reason why.
Had this problem myself. Try replacing your brake light switch, they
are not real expensive and can be changed in a matter of mineuts. It is
located by following your brake pedal all the way up to the top, when
you get there , there id a switch that when you push down on the brake
it releases the button to put you brake lights on and when you take
your foot off the brake itallows the switch to go back.
