My 91 prelude 2.1 si wont start. Originally it just had an overheating problem. I drove it 300 miles and literally having to stop 2 refill the radiator with water because it overheated. Finally 30 miles away from home my techique came to a stop, forcing me to tow it the rest of the way. Now its dead in my garage and would like some advice on what to fix next. I changed the thermostat, dist cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires, oil and filter, and still wont start. what to do???

I think at the minimum you have a blown head gasket. I am guessing you drove the car a considerable distance with not enough coolant and now you may have done extensive damage to the engine. I am guessing that if the engine still cranks, than the head is warped to an extent where there is not enough compression to support combustion.

1994 vw golf 1.9 overheating

First question is what constitutes "overheating".
Since the car has been parked for years, the thermostat could be sticking closed.
The cooling system could have air pockets and need to be bled.
The water pump may be corroded inside and not pumping enough volume.
If the gauge goes above half way, the fans should start up. But half way should be more or less normal, not hot yet.
I would look at flow problems first, beginning with removing the thermostat and driving it without one for a few days. Also check and see if there is a process to bleed the cooling system of air.

1990 prelude si wont start battery is good plugs are good d-cap is good it overheated and died i managed to get it started and now it wont start could it be my thermostat is bad?

If you overheated it, and then drove it long enough that the engine died, Your engine hay have a bad head gasket, or the engine is now bad. .fill up the coolant in the radiator (water) leave the cap off, and try to crank the engine up, if it tries to push the water out, the engine is bad. A bad thermostat isnt going to keep it from running, although it may be bad also.

I dont know what kind of motor i need for my car?

Do you need a new engine? Or are you talking about a fan motor, or what? If you're referring to the engine, the 91 Prelude had 2 engine choices: the 2.0 liter (1958 cc. known as the B20A5 series, or the 2.1 liter (2056 cc. known as the B21A1 series). Both motos are fuel injected and 4 cylinders. Let me know if this is the information you were looking for. countrycurt0
