Is it possible that the belt tensioner is the cause for the squeal or possibly the belt itself needs to be replaced. Although not impossible, the lower pulley usually is not the cause for belt squeal, unless it is damaged.

Serpentine belt on 2006 Ford Taurus SEL squealing.

The belt has most likely moved either in or out on the bottom pulley. Check it first. I had the same problem it looked ok but was out one groove missleading designed pulley.

Bad squeel when i start my car when cold, but goes away as soon as it warms up, what is it

The accessory belt most likely or possibly an accessory belt idler pulley is causing the squealing until the belt warms up enough to stop slipping against one of the pulleys which is causing the noise. Either replace the belt or inspect the tensioner pulley and replace.
You can try to buy "belt dressing" at the auto parts store for a temporary solution. Just spray the belt dressing on the contact surface of the belt it should quiet down for a few days.

2007 nissan altima. in park i can rev engine and it is quiet. when driving it makes a squealing sound but drives fine. new avt transmission this winter. Any suggestions? Could it be a belt or would a belt...

it is possible that it is a bad belt try belt dressing to see it could also be any of a number or drive line issues anything from a wheel bearing to trans. issues I would have it looked at if the belt dressing doesn't work

2003 chevy Tahoe. Squealing noise when idle.

You could have a loose belt, bad pulleys, or belt tensioners. Just pull on your belts first and see if they are loose!

Belts and pulley replaced on chrysler LHS, and now it squeals really bad

Try some belt dressing. If that doesn't work, the tensioner pulley may not have been installed properly. Return for warrant service.

Had belt squeal, treated w/belt dressing now loud clicking

Stop!
One of your pulleys is seizing. Most likely the a/c compressor or the tensioner (idler pulley).

Use a helper.... turn OFF a/c and have someone start the car. Observe the pulleys and see if the center one quits turning or is the source of the noise.
If can't determine and no noise, turn ON A/C and observe.
You will find it, but stay out of the line-of-fire if the belt breaks... it will be slingshot out of the engine compartment!!

Squealing noise under the hood

No, The fan clutch will not make a Noise it will just not catch the Fan to Cool. It is the Belt. Make sure that it is Tight. You may have a Bad Belt Tensioner if it is not.

Squealing NOISE possibly from fan belt

Belts stretch from new. Try to tighten them again. Hopefully the are not glazed or this may stay with you.
