Where did you connect the positive power wire? It sounds like you connected it to the wire that activates the starter motor when you crank the engine. In this configuration, the stereo will only operate while the car is cranking. If this is the case, when you release the key from the start position, you turn off the starter motor AND the stereo. You'll have to find another power wire to connect it to either to let the radio play all the time or to an accessory wire to allow it to play only when the car is running or in the accessory position. Good luck.
Really sounds like a short circuit.
Short circuits can cause fires.
Probably a good idea to leave the radio off until you decide on a place to fix it.
God bless your efforts.
You have tripped the security system in the vehicle. More than likely your Lexus thought someone was trying to steal your stereo & quite likely the vehicle itself. You'll have to contact your Lexus or Toyota dealer and ask them how to correctly reset it. You may have to have it taken in so they can hook there computer up to it and clear the security code. Have u tried disconnecting the car battery positive wire for a few mins and then reconnecting it? Sometimes this will reset CPU. Good Luck!
