Have 2004 Ford e150 van that has trouble when I try to put in park it stays in reverse and takes off has anybody had this problem with their van ? Is this a common problem? How do I fix it?

linkage probly needs ajustn--its under the car--a service manual can show details but u need jackstands so vehicle doesnt fall or seek a private mechanic-----check fluid level and condition-must doit while its running
The cable HOUSING has become loose from the anchor point. Get under with a hammer and a pliers and put back in place. Then persuade it to stay in place.
IF YOUR GOOD AT TAKING THINGS APPART AND PUTTING THEM TOGHTER AGAIN, TAKE IT APPART AND CLEAN IT UP AS BEST YOU CAN AND HOPE NOTHING IS BURNT OUT.CHECK THE BRUSHES ,IF THEY LOOK REALLY BEAT,YOUR PROBLY BETTER OFF REPLACING IT THEN DEALNOT STARTING WHEN YOU NEED IT.
what i think is you problem is the device attached the one door latch and need to be replaced for a new one,you can get them from the dealership and the are not expensive,this device is the one turn your lights on(interior) when you open de doors
