I have a 2005 nissan altima and when drving it above 70 mph the temp gauge goes up to almost hi then when driving around 70mph the gauge moves up and down between above the half line to just below the h line. what could be causing this?

No....the rpms differ from engine to engine and from manufacturer to manufacturer. RPM's are always higher at higher speeds.

Crankshaft poistion sensor location for 2005 nissan altima

Its right next to the passenger side drive shaft, where it goes into the transmission. Right above the drive shaft. It s black with green slider inside of the connector and it has 3 wires coming out of it.
