automatic or standard? Automatics have a dipstick, you use a funnel and pour it in through the dipstick tube, Standards have a bolt on the transmission you need to take out and fill it up till it can hold no more
Should be a white plastic reservoir under your hood on the firewall on the driver's side. It will have a cap on it. Should be one for the brakes and one for the clutch.
I had an SVX, and loved it! Had to replace the power steering pump too, but I found that until I did a really thorough flush that it still didn't work right. Jack the front wheels off the ground. Have a helper get in the car to start it and turn the wheel back and forth. Before starting it, disconnect the low-pressure return hose from the pump and put the end of it into a bucket. Be ready with a couple of quarts of ATF fluid (you don't need to use power steering fluid.) Start the car and pour fresh fluid into the pump while the steering wheel is being turned all of the way back and forth a couple of times. Don't let the fluid level get down to where it pumps any air! Shut it off just before you finish pouring in the second quart of ATF. Reconnect the low pressure hose, run it again and adjust the fluid level. This worked for me - the steering operated like new. Good luck.
Open the hood and look for either a red handle for a dipstick or one marked trans. Remove the dipstick and ,with a funnel, pour the fluid into the tube the dipstick came out of.
When the hood is popped, look for a cap that says ATF Fluid only. That is actually the power steering reservoir and not the transmission fluid fill location. I would recommend Dextron III or Dextron VI fluid for the power steering. Don't use your average power steering fluid, it says to only use ATF for a reason.
2005-2009 models used electric power steering assist exclusively. There is mo power steering pump, reservoir, or fluid on these models. Instead they use an electric motor mounted to the steering column to provide steering assist 2010 models still use the electric power steering on the four cylinder models but also use a conventional hydraulic power steering on the v-6 models.
If you have no power steering assist check the 60 amp main fuse for the power steering in the under hood fuse block if that is o.k. You will need a scan tool to find out what is wrong with the system. It is not uncommon for the electric motors to fail or for the fuse to blow while jump starting the vehicle.
There ia a pump that is run off the motor via your serpentine belt. There are rubber line going to your steering. Tske the top off this pump and add fluid just to the full mark on the lid dipstick.
open hood kook for the power steering pump it should be lower on the engine unscrew cap add fluid close hood be happy or go to a oil change service and ask. its free to ask
You need a funnel to add trans fluid to the dipstick tube where u check the trans fluid level. Let me know if u need more help, Add fluid w/ engine running, shift car thru all gears to circulate fluid. Don't overfill, it's bad for the trans.
nope there is no dipstick, to put fluid in, you have to take out the inner drain plug, if you look on the trans pan you will see a drain plug with either a torx or allen head plug in the middle, take this out with the engine running and at normal temperature, dont worry fluid will not come pouring out (there is a standpipe that goes up into the trans) to add fluid you need to squirt it up through this hole with a tube or whatever you can find that works, when it is full you will have a steady drip from the plug, thats the only way to do it. hope this helps
