1996 Saturn SC1 - Base model: Issue - A couple of days ago, I was driving along and the dash lights/interior lighting went out. The radio continued working. I went to a gas station and noticed that the running lights were not working either and when I turned off the headlights, the pods would not go down. I have checked every fuse that I know of and they are all good. I even metered them for continuity. All check fine. Please please PLEASE! Any and all ideas greatly needed.

The ects in located on the drivers side up towards the top and into the side of the block has a small 2 wire plug,make sure when you buy this that you tell them sensor and not switch as they look the same,do this with the engine cool,remove the coolant tank cap to relieve pressure and coolant loss will be very small.

it is more than likely a short in the headlight switch. also try the dimmer switch on the dash for the dash lights.

Assuming this is a manual transmission, most likely the bushing which connects the shifter to the shifter cable has gone bad. Pull the boot around the shifter up and take a look. These are available on ebay and you can install them yourself, assuming you have basic tools. Common Saturn problem, most likely find a how to a video on youtube.
