We took our 05 equinox to the shop for rear wheel bearing replacements, the owner of the shop called and said the center carrier bearing was really really bad and he could replace it. We said ok to the agreed amount, he said he would have to take it to another shop to get it off but the shop couldn't do it and that he would have to order a new one and be delayed another day. Today he called and said we need a new drive shaft for $1100.00 as a result of the attempted carrier bearing replacement, he broke something and wants me to pay for the shaft, my question is, what could he have broke and my research concludes this center carrier bearing can be replaced without buying a new drive shaft?

he told me that he would change it for $64 labor and $150 for the driveshaft shop, then he said took it to the shaft shop and they both were taking it apart and the shaft shop said they couldn't do it, so the owner called and said the shaft shop couldn't do it and that he was going to get a new carrier bearing from the dealer and we would have it back the next day by closing time... then he called the next morning and said there was a problem because the center carrier bearing was welded on and can't be replaced and need a new drive shaft and that our drive shaft was in pieces on the shop floor, he said it was broken, i to;d him that i would pay for the wheel bearings he replaced plus labor but i wanted him to put the drive shaft back on the car the way it was when i brought it in to him, he saqid he couldn't but could tow it to me, i said i'd call him back. I think what he said made sense. BUT you
will not have anything but pieces of the old drive shaft
He can not put back what was broken at the
other shop. I hope you know your on your own
to by & install a $1000 new shaft. He will
