This fault code indicates there is a problem with the leak detection pump switch or a mechanical fault in the pump.

The leak detection pump is part of the evaporative emissions control system. It is part of the self-test system that makes sure the evaportive emission system is working properly. The pump applies vacuum to the system to check for leaks.

This code is set by the PCM when the switch for the LDP is found to be in the wrong position at start-up. This can be caused by a faulty switch in the pump or a mechanical failure in the pump - either way the pump assembly needs to be replaced to address the issue.

Clear the code with a code reader or by disconnecting the battery and drive the vehicle for a while to see if the code comes back. If the code comes back make sure to inspect all the wires for any type of short or issues before replacing the pump. The pump is located under the rear of the vehicle near the fuel tank. Dealer list on the pump is about $140.00. It should take less than an hour to switch out.

Your local trusty auto repair facility can perform a full diagnostic on the system to ensure that is your problem.

Good luck!

P1494 and p0340 codes on pt cruiser

p1494 = "Evap leak detection pump pressure switch"
p0340 = "Camshaft position sensor"

You have two unrelated problems. The computer doesn't like your cam position sensor - replace that sensor. There also seems to be a problem with your evac pump, which may be a lot harder to track down; you may have a problem with the pressure switch or with a vacuum leak or vent leak somewhere within the fuel-tank-to-charcoal-canister-to-engine lines. Try replacing that switch first. If that doesn't fix the problem, then you'll need a hose routing diagram - with it, trace the vacuum lines and vent lines, looking for leaks or blockages.

P1494

The Dodge P1494 engine light code means Leak Detection Pump Switch or Mechanical Fault. A proper diagnosis must be done, you can't simply replace the LDP and expect that to fix the problem. It shouldn't hurt anything to keep driving it for a while until you can get it fixed.
There is a technical service bulletin that applies to your vehicle and it mentions that code specifically. I'm including it here for your information: TSB-18-01-00
SUBJECT: Misdiagnosed Leak Detection Pump Systems With DTC P1494, P0442, P0455, OR P0456.
MODELS: 1997 - 2000 (LH) Concorde/Intrepid/LHS/300M/Vision and others
DISCUSSION:
During evaporative system diagnosis, Leak Detection Pumps have mistakenly been replaced. A thorough inspection for pinched, kinked, or disconnected supply vacuum lines (as currently listed in the Powertrain Diagnostic Procedures) is a critical step in diagnosing DTC P1494 (LDP SW OR MECHANICAL FAULT). Additionally, the other evaporative leak faults (DTC P0442 - SMALL LEAK, P0455 - LARGE LEAK, and P0456 - VERY SMALL LEAK) should have the supply vacuum lines examined for pinches or kinks prior to any LDP component replacement. The supply vacuum lines should be checked from the engine compartment all the way to the fuel tank, including the LDP and purge system.

NOTE: VERIFY ALL RELATED SUPPLY VACUUM LINE ROUTINGS FOR PINCHES, KINKS, OR DISCONNECTION'S BEFORE REPLACING LDP SYSTEM COMPONENTS.

Hope helps (remember rated and comment this).

Diagnostic error code

The code refers to the leak detection pump that is part of the gasoline vapor control system which is for pollution minimization. It says either that the pump switch or mechanical operation is faulty. I had this happen on a 2000 Dodge Dakota and a replacement Gas Cap fixed the problem. A faulty gas cap seal can also cause this.

Good luck
