Loses power when driving

98 honda civic 4dr lx...106,000 miles....had 02 sensor replaced. Loses power while driving...especially driving uphill, after and during rain, and sometimes on level road with no rain. Is it spark plugs, 02 sensor, fuel injector?????

  • Julie Lawwill Aug 16, 2008

No, I did not think of that. It probably needs a tune up anyway since I have not done it yet and it's at 106,000 miles. So I may need a new alternator belt??

Have you checked the belts out especially the one going to the alternator. It sounds like its slipping.

2005 Civic LX Codes that are reading are PO340,344, also says misfire Fuel, catlyst Evap,02 Sensor, 02 HTR, EGR what issues am i in for?

Sounds like a distributor or timing issue, a common issue with these cars sometimes. Our Civic LX was giving us the same codes, We replaced the distributor and reset the timing... problem resolved. Not sure about the 2005 Civic year model, the ignition system may have changed with the newer models...

My 98 civic when driving it shuts off loses all power...turn key off n turn on again like reseting it starts up why is this?

It sounds like you have a major electrical issue or bad (shorting) battery. When you say it loses all power, you mean radio, lights, horn etc? Clean Battery terminals & look for ground wires that need to be cleaned & reattached. Check the black ground cable that goes to engine block. The more I type the more I think its a bad ground somewhere or the battery is shorting out inside the case. Good luck and I hope this helps you.

Trying to get my 1997 honda civic smogged. Replaced the knock sensor about 800 miles ago. No check engine light is on. When I try to smog it i have three things not ready - the catalyst, the evap, and...

As a rule it takes about 50 miles for the computer to finish it's readiness tests. Some take longer so I would drive it about 75 miles and then check.
