The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) for Sorento & Sedona models. Some Sorento & Sedona vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble codes P0121 and/or P1121. This condition mainly occurs in high ambient or desert areas, and can be related to the occasional increase in contact resistance due to excessive wear of the inner elements of the TP sensor. This bulletin describes the proper service and adjustment procedure for replacing the TP Sensor. - Service Procedure Replacement Procedure: 1. Turn ignition OFF. Remove engine cover and disconnect electrical connector from TP Sensor. 2. Remove two (2) retaining screws from TP Sensor and remove from throttle body. 3. Install new TP Sensor to throttle body. Install retaining screws and hand tighten lightly. Adjustment will be required. Re-install electrical connector to TP Sensor.

I have a p1121 code and a p1115. What are these codes?

p1115 is coolant temp intermittently high. Could be the sensor or wiring/plug.
p1121 is TPS is invalid. Again this could both the sensor or wiring/plug. Takes a volt /ohm meter and a bit of time to figure out.

Hi I have Kia sorento 2003 and my trouble is idle go up to 3000rpm to shift from 1 to 2 and the idel some time no stable go at round 200to 500 rpm with OBD 2 code P1330. your help will be appreciated...

Dear Allamid,

Seems to me like you need angine diagnostics performed. Your idle speed is way to high here. Mapping the engine should pinpoint and solve the problem. This is typic\lly done by nothing more than plugging a laptop into the onboard computer that governs the engine.

By the sounds of the OBD code that you have, you already knew thisabove procedure.Even so, have the Engine management unit checked, and get someone to check thermostat, engine timing, and might be worth having a full service done.

If you still dont get anywhere with this, get in touch with me andI will investigate the matter thoroughly for you,but in the meantime I do hope that this actually does resolve your issue.

yours sincerely

Have a 2004 kia sorento. have a transaxel fault and a TPS SIGNAL MALFUNTION FROM ECM TO TCM. WHAT IS THIS

Your transaxle is the transmission. The TPS is the throttle position sensor. ECM is the is the engine's computer. The TCM is the transmission computer. So, the throttle position sensor is not reporting to either and needs to be replaced. They seem to be about $180 for the part.

I am changing the spark plugs on my 2004 Kia sorento

Be careful there.. If you remove the Throttle Position Sensor TPS or the throttle Cable, the engine light will come on because there is a certain setting that needs to be done to ensure accurate emission control.
