The cylinder banks are odd and even numbered. driver side bank 1 3 5, passenger side bank 2 4 6, from front to back. firing order, 1 6 5 4 3 2. the rotor, cw rotation. I'd put the #1 cylinder on top dead center of compression stroke, then which ever spark plug tower the rotor is leading into, in the direction of rotation, is number 1, then follow the firing order around the cap. Sorry, I don't have picture of how cap is numbered. good luck
The driver side bank, front cylinder is #1.
Odd and even banks as far as how the cylinders are numbered.
Driver side bank, front to back, 1 3 5 7
Passenger side bank, front to back, 2 4 6 8
STANDING IN FRONT OF CAR TO THE LEFT ON PASSENGER SIDE CYLINDERS FACING YOU ARE 1 2 3 ON DRIVER SIDE CYLINDERS FACING YOU ARE 4 5 6 ALL THIS INFORMATION I GAVE YOU IS FOR THE 3.0L AND 3.2L DISTRIBUTORLESS ENGINE.WRITE BOTH NUMBERS I GIVE YOU 3 2 1 AND WRITE NUMBER 4 6 5 PUT NUMBER 321 ON TOP OF 465 THAT WILL BE SPARK PLUG WIRES LOCATION ON COILS.THEN ROUTE THEM TO THE CYLINDERS SPARK PLUGS.BESURE TO HOLD PAPER WITH NUMBERS I GAVE YOU NUMBERS STAND IN FRONT OF ENGINE SO YOU WONT MISLOCATE SPARK PLUG WIRES FROM COILS TO SPARK PLUGS.
FORD SABLE HAD TWO 3.0 ENGINES. ENGINE WITH CRANKSHAFT PULLEY FACING FRONT TOWARD RADIATOR AND GRILLE. CYLINDERS ON LEFT PASSENGER SIDE IS 1 2 3 CYLINDERS ON DRIVER SIDE THE RIGHT IS 4 5 6 GET PIECE OF PAPER WRITE NUMBER 321 AND WRITE UNDER THAT NUMBER THE NUMBER 456 STACK THEM NUMBERS ON TOP OF EACH OTHER THATS WHERE PLUGS WIRES LOCATION IS THE ROUTE THEM TO CYLINDER SPARK PLUGS NOW IF YOU HAVE THE 3.0 ENGINE TURNED SIDE WAYS.CYLINDERS FACING YOU 4 5 6 AND BACK CYLINDERS ARE 1 2 3 GET A PIECE OF PAPER WRITE NUMBER 456 THEN WRITE THIS NUMBER UNDER THAT NUMBER 321 WITH NUMBERS ON TOP OF EACH OTHER.LINED UP.THAT WILL BE YOUR SPARK PLUGS WIRES LOCATION.THEN ROUTE THEM TO THE CYLINDERS LIKE 1 TO 1 CYLINDER.
STANDING IN FRONT OF ENGINE FACING CRANKSHAFT.CYLINDERS ON LEFT SIDE ENGINE 1 3 5 AND CYLINDERS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE ON DRIVER SIDE IS 2 4 6 GET PIECE PAPER WRITE NUMBER 5 3 1 AND UNDER THAT NUMBER WRITE NUMBER 2 6 4 THATS COIL PLUGS WIRES LOCATION HOLDING THAT PIECE OF PAPER FACING FRONT OF ENGINE IS PLUG WIRES LOCATION ON IGNITION COILS TO ENGINE SPARK PLUGS. NUMBERS ON PAPER HAS TO LINE UP LIKE 5 OVER 2 AND 3 OVER 6 AND 1 OVER 4 NUMBERS I GIVE YOU WHEN YOU LINE THEM UP HOLD PAPER STANDING FRONT ENGINE.THAT IS CORRECT PLUG WIRES LOCATION ON SPARK PLUG COILS.
Insofar as your Ignition Wiring Diagram, I hope you're speaking of what's also called the Spark Plug Cables or Firing Order. The proper Firing order for your V-6 is 1-5-3-6-2-4 with the number 1 cylinder being the front spark plug on the left hand side. The left hand side is Odd numbered and the Right hand side is Even numbered, therefore number 2 cylinder is the 1st plug on the right hand side of the engine.
I don't have a link with pictures, but I will describe the cylinder and coil numbers for both the overhead valve (OHV) and the overhead cam (OHC) as best I can.
Facing the engine from the front bumper.
On the 3.0 overhead valve (OHV) the cylinder location looks like this:
1 2 3
4 5 6
The coil location looks like this:
5 1
6 2
4 3
If you have the 3.0 overhead camshaft (OHC) engine again facing the engine from the front bumper your cylinder location looks like this:
ford starts with #1 is pass front #2 is 2nd pass from front #3 is 3rd pass front # 4 is forth from pass front now i dont know if it is a v8 or v10 if it is a V8 THEN # 5 IS THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE IF IT IS A V10 THEN #5 IS THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE
Don't have the numbers visable in my van to tell me which spark plug goes where
