1993 jeep grand cherokee laredo, straight 6 engine. rolls back at times when in park with ebrake on.. bought it used. has a SEVERE case of bouncing speedometer. It would appear the previous owner removed the 4wd drive shaft. i wonder if this has to due with my rolling back when in park maybe..

Usually a bad crank sensor or a bad ecu computer.

Sounds like the torque converter is locked,replacement of this will be needed .

THIS MODEL HAD NO V6 ENGINE, IT HAD A STRAIGHT 6 (4.0L) OR A 4 (2.5L) CYLINDER, THE GRAND CHEROKEE HAD A V8 (5.2L) AS AN OPTION AS WELL.

Back up a minute...Do you have spark from the coil wire? (juice from coil) If so, change or check rotor and cap (wires do not all go bad at same time so unless they are wet, likely at least good enough to start engine)

the sending unit is more then likely a mess, take it back to where you bought it and demand they fix the problem
