I have an 84 el camino. driving down the road it just quit. it turns over fine but will not fire. also at the same time the drivers electric window quit working. where could I start checking for the starting problem? thanks

If electric choke not working and blade on carb is not fully opened, that would cause your issue...check for power at choke stat, if not, check fuse

Had an 84 silverado 305 that did the same thing. Try giving it a full tune up. Plugs, wires... Mine turned out to be fouled plugs. I didn't find that out till after i tore it down & put a timing set in it. Wasn't getting good enough spark.

Sounds like a transmission problem. Change the transmission filter and fluid and make sure it is topped off to the proper level. Have the transmission checked out to ensure there isn't a problem in the torque converter.

check or replace the bulb on the non working side

most likely a weak fuel pump or a clogged filter. Check fuel pressure with a gauge or as its bogging down spray brake cleaner in the Throttle Body. If this allows it to increase RPM then its the pump or filter.

i use a big c-clamp to collapse mine

Lower right kick panel, at the bottom access hole.

you have to take off you dash board cover, un-screw it and screw it back in the same exact way as you removed it.

On the R.H side of the carb behind the automatic choke down on the rear throttle shaft there is a pin running thru the shaft with a lever that will lock it out. If the choke is not fully open or the weight behind the auto choke is not dropping the lever will not relase the secondaries to open.
