Sounds like a bad ECU. Why did you change motors?
There were turned bearings in the other engine. She is placing a 2.2 engine in instead of a 2.3 that was originally in the car. The car with the turned bearings is in better shape, so she swapped engines. The lights all work and the car attempts to turn over but like I said, no fire to the sparks plugs or power to the fuel pump. The ECU fuse was checked but we will check again. That is what someone else said it sounded like to them.
yeah, it sounds like the ECU is not sending signal to the coil packs or to the fuel pump.
Can you tell me what the ECU is and where it is located? I think it is located in the fuse box inside the car to the left of the brake pedal.
An engine control unit (ECU), is a type of electronic control unit that determines the amount of fuel, ignition timing and other parameters an internal combustion engine needs to keep running. It does this by reading values from multidimensional performance maps (so called LUTs), using input values (e.g. engine speed) calculated from signals coming from sensor devices monitoring the engine. Before ECU's, air/fuel mixture, ignition timing, and idle speed were directly controlled by mechanical and pneumatic sensors and actuators. On this car, It is located either behind the dash, by the gas pedal on the right side of it. OR in the left corner of the floorboard by the brake pedal. Here is a pictur of it.
It wont let me show you a picture of it but go to this link www.dhgate.com/92-96-honda-prelude-ecu-ecm-f22a1-unit-1992/r-ff8080812d270a19012d273f1af02cb1. to see what it looks like....
And please rate this. :)
Thanks so much! : )
No problem :)
