The shift solenoid has gone out and the van is in "safe mode" You will need to get the solenoid replaced. It may clear up intermittently after the engine/trans cools and shift okay for awhile, but you'll still end up replacing it.
Here goes.Remove neg batt cable 10 mm, Remove elec connector to solenoid 6mm. Remove trans lines from trans(sometimes you can get away with not doing this) Remove speed sensor connector small screwdriver just to get the tab to release. Use 1inch scoket to remove spped sensor (just needs to be loose) spin out by hand. Remove 3 blolts 8mm holding the solenoid to trans. When puting new one in make sure the area is clean, clean, clean. Use new gasket. Dealer gasket trans solenoid 04659982 & replace o ring on speed sensor part#06501657ab. The bolts on solenoid snug them down but don't over tighten them. The speed sensor is 20lb torque. The right speed sensor part is 06501658ab this one is blue the left is black. Hope this helps.
Sounds like you need a solenoid pack to start, and possibly a service. If the tranny is not slipping, the solenoid pack is stuck and not tell it to shift up. Could possibly be a TCM, but not as likely.
