The code is not for engine, it is transmission code, to tell exactly you need a SAAB Tech 2 scaner, It may be the neutralsafety switch . 29 differnt codes for trans. try to move shifter from park to 1. 20 times it may help for now, reset code drive car to set all redines codes, Neutral safety switch is on back order from saab.

Go to AutoZone or Kragen and get a $9.00 bottle of PASS ANY SMOG TEST or double
your money back (keep your receipt). You just pour it into your gas tank at a FILL UP and run
that gas down then refill your tank and take your Smog Test. It will pass. What state are you in??
What are your smog test numbers??

How to read the emission results? I have some red x's, some green check marks and some with a circle with what looks like a gear.

Slightly unusual display, but guessing Red will be Fail, Green in Pass and the gear is borderline and needs fixing. You need to ask when they give you the paper. They are supposed to explain the results.

Fix a system monitors" not ready" reading during emmissions test

Hi Paul@ FIREFOX,
The most common cause is the engine is not upto working temp.failing this you will need to use an O.B.D 2 meter to pin point fault this will flag up a fault code it works out alot cheaper than changing parts to cure the fault hope this helps....

1994 buick park ave failed idle emission test 2.15 to high standard 1.20

it appears to need a major tune up, your fuel system is showing signs of alcohol poisoning, most of todays fuels are up to 10% alcohol, this engine and fuel system was not designed for it. You may hit the spending limit for emissions' before fixing it. Plugs, wires , cap , rotor, air and fuel filters is where it starts...keep me posted

Failed smog check

How well does the vehicle run?

Assuming that the engine did pass the EGR function test on the emission test results, and the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) or check engine light is not on when the engine is running, and if you are not sure when the last time it was that the engine had a complete tune-up, with distributor cap, ignition rotor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, air and fuel filters, then a complete tune-up would certainly help, and if the engine oil and oil filter have not been changed in a while, then they should also be changed before an emission test because long used engine oil traps carbon and it will show up as higher CO on the emission test because the emission analyzer will be able detect the higher CO from the engine oil through the PCV valve.

However, it would seem from those HC readings that there is a vacuum leak, and carefully inspect all of the vacuum lines for any cracks or damage, (especially the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator) because cracks in the vacuum lines seem to like to hide underneath the lines.

The emission label under the hood should have the vacuum line routing diagram printed on it, and the vacuum lines should all be checked to be certain that they are all connected correctly.

Here is the firing order diagram for that vehicle to help assist you tune-up the vehicle.

1994 honda accord failed its emisions test.

i would say change the O2 sensors and a new cat ,these readings are well over the top ,could have a exhaust blow on exhaust as well which will throw out the O2 readings

Ford failed MOT on High CO emission

High CO usualy means the O2 sensors are not reading properly. Take it to a parts store that can read codes, I know Auto Zone does in my area. If it is the O2 sensor it is an easy fix but the sensors run about $50.00 each.
