With a car that age your wiring could be corroded and even the bulb sockets corroded or falling apart. I had an older car and had to change the light sockets and had to rewire one side.
if you don`t have a scan tool capable of performing relearn procedure then you will have to drive the car under all conditions from cold to hot and short to long distances as well under different throttle conditions. etc, idle cruise acceleration and hard acceleration.
If you are having a problem with no acceleration or stalling or rough idle then you could have a Mercedes ecu that is bad. These computers have bad solder joints, capacitors and many other problems. I guess I could help you better if you can provide the ecu part number. Also there is a list of part numbers here at the website http://www.mercedesecm.com Hopefully, this information will help you.
your level is to low the coolent sensor can't read steam so it turns on the light... or your sensor is bad
or you have a short in the pigtail to the sensor
undo mass air flow sensor start moter multiple times if it starts to run fairly normal drive it and see if it comes together then if it does then by a mass air flow light may come on during this but no harm will go out eventually after new piece installed
