I have a 1987 chevrolet celebrity. A rabbit got into the engine compartment and chewed all of my spark plug wires, the wires on the distrubitor's wiring harness, and a couple others. I've reconnected all the wires properly and am getting spark from the spark plugs but it's not getting gas and won't start without starting fluid sprayed. No power to fuel injector intake, and the computer is not running hot. If someone could help me out, I'd appreciate it. I've checked the 4 fusible links in the front of the engine compartment. They are all hot on both sides. Still no power to the ECM. Are there more than 4 fusible links? Where might I find more? Why else can you think, given the situation, the ECM could not be getting power? Thanks for any replies, and if you see this today and can help solve, please call me. Hi, are you sure your fuel pump is running? I'm assuming you have the 4-cylinder 2.5 liter engine. The ECU and the injector are powered by the same wire as the ignition system. See diagram below.

    I got it working.
The orange wire that powers the ECM wasn't connected via it's boot straight from the positive terminal. There was a connector that was unplugged there.

That wasn't the main problem initially, though. The wires being chewed through was that problem and once I got 'em all spliced up together, it wouldn't start. No power to control box (ECM).

So that orange wire and it's connector that was undone at some point is what got me back up and running.

    Thanks for the timely response!

I have a 1987 Dodge dakota and can't get any spark?

You need to see if you have voltage at the coil with the key on.
Make sure the check engine light comes on when you turn the key on.
If not, check the ASD relay in the engine compartment.
You will need a book and a meter to test the other components.

I have a 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity-2.8 multi-port engine. I have replaced the fuel pump, the fuel filter, put a new distributor cap on, replaced the spark plugs and new wires. Changed the air and oil...

Sounds like something getting warm/hot as engine warms up. Could be the MAP sensor, Coil/Coil pack, Ignition Switch(not the key cylinder), or possibly the Oxygen Sensor.

Next time it does this, pull a plug wire out of the coil pack and hold it close to the tower, and have someone crank the engine to see if your still getting a spark.
Could also be a loose connector on the throttle body injection, or a broken wire.

1986 chevrolet celebrity i have no fire to the coil from the switch is my problem in the steering column because the column is loose and shakey

If you are not getting spark at the coil, then you're coil may need replaced. Also, pull the distributor cap and check the cap on the inside as well as the rotor. If you have not recently tuned up, then I suggest replacing the spark plugs, spark plug wired, (coil wire should come with them); the coil; distributor cap and rotor. When doing the spark plugs and wires, start with one, and replace the plug, then the wire for that plug - do this one at a time - do not take them all off at once, unless you have a book that shows the firing order. (Having a book for any vehicle is a good idea). Please let me know if you have any further questions, or need further assistance.
In addition, if this does not suffice - replace the starter relay. If this is blown, the car won't even turn over.

I put new spark plugs and wires and rotor and distrubitor cap and my pu is still misfireing bad. checked for vac leaks and compression was good and it has good spark in all the wires what else can I do

Hello: What about injectors. There are diagnostic procedures for checking injectors, you can do a sight check but its not very accurate. Removing the injectors and leaving them connected and turning the engine over could cause a fire so be careful.

I am not getting any spark to the spark plugs to get engine to turn over, start, or run. I already replaced the plugs and everything to do with them, the fuel filter, the air filter, and the relay switch....

ignition moduel inside the distrubitor. around a $40 part. Two screws on distrubitor, two more on the moduel, and one wire connector and you're done.

Having trouble locating my idle air control valve

looking at the throttle body assembly, after removing the air filter housing, opposite side of the spark plugs, about an inch or two down, you should see a electrical connection, with four wires, the IAC has two small torxs screws that hold it to the throttle body.
