Loss of power

My mechanic examined our vue with the computer and could find no errors. We have experienced a fairly substancial loss of power and decreased excelleration. My mechanic thinks the next step is to examine fuel supply. He suggested that the fuel filter is in the tank. How hard is it to pull the tank, can I do it?

You and some friends could probably do it but in my opinion it's better to leave it to the guy that has a car lift because that makes it killer easy. and you have to have special fuel line disconnect tools which can be a pain to find sometimes.

2010 GWM Florid Crossover hatchback is loosing power while driving. What might be the problem?

There can be several reasons for a GWM Florid Crossover hatchback to lose power while driving and display a service light on the dashboard. Some possible causes could be:
  1. Fuel system issues: A clogged fuel filter, malfunctioning fuel pump, or a problem with the fuel injectors can restrict the flow of fuel to the engine, leading to a loss of power.
  2. Ignition system problems: Faulty ignition coils, spark plugs, or ignition cables can result in misfires or weak spark, causing power loss.
  3. Sensor malfunction: Issues with sensors like the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or Oxygen (O2) sensor can disrupt the fuel-to-air ratio, resulting in decreased engine performance.
  4. Exhaust system concerns: A clogged catalytic converter or restricted exhaust flow can cause a decrease in power output.
  5. Electrical issues: Problems with the battery, alternator, or wiring can affect the vehicle's electrical system, leading to power loss.
  6. Transmission problems: If there is a fault with the transmission, such as slipping gears or a failing clutch, it can result in a loss of power while driving.
Given the presence of the service light on the dashboard, it is recommended to have the vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic or service center. They can use diagnostic equipment to read the trouble codes stored in the vehicle's computer system, which will provide more specific information about the underlying problem causing the power loss.

Loss of power and loss of vacuum to brakes

Restriction in the exhaust can cause this. Test with a vacuum gauge normal 60 mph readings around 14-18 hg. in depending on throttle position once power loss starts if reading goes to zero restriction is present. then use of a infra-red thermal heat gun you can locate the restriction. hot to cold at plugged stop.

Exhaust smoke definitely not steam. Someone opined that it may be related to the turbo/exhaust system. What do you think?

A worn turbo or broken would create smoke. Blue or Gray smoke is either worn rings or a clogged PCV. White smoke is from foreign fluid entering the engine. Typically indicative of a head gasket leak. Black smoke is Leaking injectors or an ignition problem or an issue with the turbo.
If you are experiencing a loss in power then you most likely have a worn turbo bearing.

Multiple error codes reported: U0100

UO 100-109 typically loss (or near loss) of communications with Onstar. Problem may be loose harness connection or defective onstar backup battery. I'm working on this issue with my 2008 Vue as we speak. I had a very similar code before, last year, and the dealer replaced the battery and the issue was resolved. There does exsist a service dept advisory informing dealers of this Onstar battery issue. Good luck.

98 rodeo 4cyl. why when i turn the ac on i loose engine power?

The cause of power loss is that the engine idle is not being increased when the A/C compressor comes on.

This is either accomplished electro-mechanically with an idle-up solenoid, or electronically, with an engine control "computer".

An idle-up solenoid fault is fairly simple to diagnose.

If you have the computer controlled idle up system, I would suggest using a garage to get a diagnosis.

2006 Vue 2.2L Creaking in Front End

I have an 03' vue with same problem. I took it to my garage, and found out it was indeed the strut. My mechanic told me that vues have issues with struts, and wheel bearings. You may want to have your struts checked.

Fuel system

Have a mechanic do a fuel system pressure check. You are probably having a problem with your primary and secondary fuel pumps. This should show up as a problem with a code scan, but sometimes it doesn't show at all.
