Open a door . It's suppose to do that . After 10 min. or open a door is what should shut it off . If not ,stuck RAP relay contacts stuck closed . supplying battery voltage all the time . RAP relay - Retained Accessory Power
Relay Controlled RAP
The BCM keeps the RAP relay energized during all power modes, except Off-Awake and Crank. The relay is also energized for approximately 10 minutes after shutting the ignition OFF and removing the key, providing no door is opened.
Relay controlled RAP will end when one of the following conditions is met:
• The BCM receives an input from any door ajar or open switch indicating the opening of any door after the ignition key is out of the ignition.
Important: If the BCM is receiving any door ajar or open signal from those switches when the ignition key is turned OFF, RAP will not initiate.
• The BCM internal timer for the RAP expires after approximately 10 minutes.
• The BCM detects a decrease in battery capacity below a prescribed limit.
Systems powered by the accessory relay during the retained accessory power (RAP) power mode are as follows:
• Power windows
• Sunroof
What type of problem are you having? Make sure that all battery connections are clean and tight. Then with a test light check the fuse box. Do the fuses that get power when the key is on light up? Does the radio come on when the ignition in turned to on? Does the Air conditioner fans work when the key is in the on position? Does the starter crank over when you turn the key to the crank position?
ignition replaced ???? Ignition switch , the electrical part or key lock cylinder and key ? left switch on 10 minutes ???? That won't work on your vehicle ! Light's lit on insturment cluster ? Car with padlock symbol ,check engine ,service engine soon etc.... The starting system on your vehicle is computer controlled as many fuctions are ! The ignition switch is a low voltage input to the BCM - body control module .
Your best bet , take it back to the dealer .
To fix your problem Fix what they ripped out first. You can get the key/lockset and ignition switch at parts stores. Fix wiring also if needed. After it is back to normal. Do a relearn for the key. Put a battery charger on the battery( you don't want it to go below 8 volts). Turn the key on for ten minutes, off for thirty seconds. Three times. Then try to start. If the voltage gets to low or you hit the starter at any time, you have to start over. This will reprogram passlock III keys to the security.
It sounds like your car battery is dead. If you connect another car as if you were going to jump-start your car - you ought to be able to remove the key - or crank the engine to start it.
You didn't include the year of your G5, so I don't know about recalls for it - as there seems to be one for the 2009 - linked below:
The battery dead? Remove the battery cables and wait and then see if the key will turn. If it will not remove the key ( will it come out?) the key can be the wrong one ( maybe) you can have a blown fuse. Any fuse so you need to check them all. If the key will turn with the battery disconnected then put the car in park and turn the key off and remove it from the car. with the window down and the doors all closed and the hod open reconnect the known good ( charged Battery) with the battery connected don't open the door but reach in and put the key in and start the car. the doors should lock when the engine starts. reach in and unlock the door and get in and close the door. then turn the car off and remove the key get out and close the door and lock it with the key. wait a minute and then unlock the door with the key get in and drive away like normal. do everything though or you'll unset the reset cycle. Make shure that the break lights work as they control the unlocking feature of the collum.
There is a TSB on this issues if your having ignition lock issues.
