There are a number of reasons why the ses light can come on. In my opinion, the best thing to do is to read the codes with a scan tool. Some parts stores will do this for free, especially if the vehicle is OBDII (made after 1995). Reading the codes will help to determine the best place to start looking for the problem. Some of the causes are : sensor reading out of range, fuel trim out of range, emission control problem, PCM failure.

MY CAR RUNS REALLY GOOD, BUT 2 DAYS AGO THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON CAME ON. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW SOME OF THE REASON FOR THIS LIGHT TO BE ON?

There are dozens of reasons the light can come on. One is the gas cap being loose, another is a failing oxygen sensor. Both of these will not affect the drivability of the car but if the oxygen sensor is the problem and it isn't taken care of quickly, it can cause damage to other components and them cost much more to fix. Some auto parts stores will retrieve the code(s) for you. If you want to do it yourself, you will need an OBD II code reader.

This is only 2 of many possible causes, and to guess over the internet is impossible.

Ford Mustang service engine soon and check fuel cap lights are on

Check fuel cap light will not immediatly go out upon replacement of the fuel cap. Might take several days. You could go to a local autoparts store and have them read the trouble code (for check engine light) and reset it. If it was indeed the fuel cap the light should stay off after resetting it. Most autoparts stores do not charge a fee to do this.

2003 Buick Century Custom and the Service Engine Soon Light

You will need to have a reputable mechanic do a diagnostic check on the car to determine the problem. This should pull up a code number in your car's computer and help point the mechanic and you in the direction of the malfunctioning part/s.

Just today, I had a diagnostic check done on mine for nearly $45.00. The mechanic was able to figure out the reason why my service engine light was staying on. I knew my car's radiator fans failed to run when car's engine was hot except when the A/C was running. I had changed out the sensors and was never able to get the light to go out or get the fans working. They were able to determine that the 25 amp fuse for the fans located under the hood was blown. After replacing it, the fans worked as they should, my car runs cooler and the engine service engine light is now out. Of course there are many possible reasons why the service engine light may come on including problems with the car's emissions. A reputable mechanic can solve your problem.

Service engine soon

hi, this is just a reset issue. sometimes the CPU can become confused. the original warning that informed you about your gas cap is still in the cpu's memory. you will have to reset the cpu and, this will clear the warning. After the reset, it will stay off. chevy cpu's tend to do this from time to time.
