Ford BA Falcon heater where everything works but does not blow warm air. Possibly the hin module under dashboard
Just had the same thing happen to my BA. No hot air. I'm a bit of a handyman so I had a go myself. 8 Hours is a reasonable estimate. You have to remove the steering column and entire dashboard to get the bugger out. Not a job I would attempt again.
You see ford charge 8 hours labour for replacing the shaft!
A job that at most should take 3 hours. I would hunt around and get some quotes from a Radiator Repair shop or Air con specialist rather then Ford dealerships.
Hi everybody,
just on the subject of the dual zone blend doors not working due to broken spindle or snapped blend door hinges.......my 04 fairlane started with passenger side losing heat totally, then drivers side losing heat. spent days researching with everyone saying its a dash out job. i have just found this link to a jeep site with the same prob and a solution other than dash out. It involves taking out glove box and motor drive for the him box....mayb the blower motor as well and cutting a hole in the shell of the him box. check it out, i,m going to try it in the next few days hopefully.

mm interestering...i have the ba fairmont with the same problem...no warm air on the passenger side...i was told by a ford dearlership when they serviced my car that is a broken shaft or something like that and it was going to cost me $800 to fix....i am wondering now if it is a model problem as i have read this problem before
Exactly the same problem. Probably the same dodgy plastic type shafts they use in the door lock mechanism.
Yes, it's a broken heater mixer shaft, they are made of plastic. I have the same problem on my 2004 XR6. I was quoted by a Ford dealer $900 as the dash has to come out. Apparently they replace it with a shaft that has a metal rod inside it. I wrote to Ford as I felt that this was something Ford should come to the party with even if my car was out of warranty but had no luck, they said it"s not a safety issue. Then I asked Fair Trading if they can help but again no luck. It's a joke, they replace them with an upgraded shaft, it's obvious it's a faulty part that snaps. Ford won't admit fault or they'll have to fix all shafts that break, that's the only reason. It's turned me right off Fords.
I have a similar problem yet, my 2004 Ba started blowing only hot air, the complete opposite to your cold air. I was told it could be the module playing up. I was told to clean the battery terminals, take them off, negative terminal first, then positive.
Make sure they are extremely clean, this intern resets the modules within the car. Sure enough I was able to then access cold and fresh air as I could hear the module opening up to change from hot to cold.
Although I dont know whether this would work from cold to hot, yet it worked from hot to cold. I suppose if it is able to carry heat, then there must not be anything wrong with the pipes.
