Car began to hesitate then miss. Did compression test resulting in 180+ on all plugs. Replaced plugs, coil pacs. It run good for about 9 miles and started missing hesitating and even stalled out several times and had to restart engine. I even tried putting in a computer. Now it won't start at all.

I have a 99 grand am SE 2.4 4 cylinder and my problem #2 misfire, repalced spark plugs with AC delco rapid fires, replaced coil packs, replaced coil pack housing, changed spark plug boots, had ignition...

A misfire doesn't always have to be ignition... it's just the most common cause. Faulty or plugged injector, low compression. You need to check fuel pressure and test the fuel injector flow. Then check compression. If you don't have tools for these tests, take it to someone who does. Testing is much cheaper than throwing parts at the problem.

I have a 2001 Grand Am 3.4l V-6. I have replaced spark plugs, wires and coil pack. Still has rough idle and hesitation during driving.

check the plug where the air intake connects to the engine. i had a loose connection in mine, it cost me an alternator that i didn't need. the wire also caused rough shifting.

2001 pontiac grand am w/ 2.4l 4cyl

I disagree with the testing of coils, it has proved fault many times. I would check fuel rail pressure, as fuel pump commonly lose there abilty to build pressure but don't totally die. A DIS spark system should have the abilty to jump 1" with proper battery voltage. With good plugs the spark should be blue in color. The starter may be getting hot, or if it comes against compression when the engine attempts to start, it will do it's job and go back in.

Pontiac 2001 Clarification

If you just replaced the computer. you may need to put the PCM (Power Train Control Module) in the 'learning' mode to allow it to access all the parts of the car. Everything not working, and not starting after a computer change is sometimes normal if the PCM is not in the learning mode. To put in a learning mode you need an advanced OBDII 1 or 2 reader. It allows you to control parts of the PCM. let me know if this helps.

Missing on one cylinder

Replace the coil going to that cylinder, and then replace the valve cover gasket to prevent further oil from getting on the new coil. If it is not the coil, the crank sensor could have gone bad in it.
