I have a 1991 Mercury Capri soft top convertible. I need to replace one of the latches. How do I change it? Please forgive my ignorance but I don't know the name of the part but it is the piece that you see at the windshield when the top is up. It is a thick black soft strip that goes along the top of the cover and butts up to the windshield. We don't want to just yank it off to get to the bolt that holds the latch. We are hoping that it just snaps off and on but don't want to break it. Does this make sense? Thanks

SOURCE: FORD CAPRI 1990

My wife had a mid 80's capri and the latch/release button was on the drivers side door pillar at the back of the door near the bottom of the pillar, the door had to be open to see it, there was a second one that we only found when selling the car on the bottom of the drivers side door arm rest. Not sure if that helps as yours is newer but it might give you a couple of more places to start. On my son's Mercury Topaz you have to open the glovebox and push a semi=concealed button on the right..Those lovely engineers at Ford! lol...

SOURCE: i have a 2010 convertible.

Hi,
Being this a 2010 vehicle I am assuming it is still under full warranty, being that it is. Take it to a dealership and have them fix the problem under warranty. It isn't necessary to take a risk doing damage and voiding your warranty for something that is covered. try lock-tite on the screws when you do put them in.
Thank you,
Lee

SOURCE: i have a 2006 audi

Hi,
Is the vehicle under warranty? If so the only thing I would recommend is taking it straight to a dealer. That is why you buy a new car, for a new car warranty.
Thank you,
Lee

SOURCE: 2001 dodge viper, how do you open hood

You have your first hood release inside the car and at the front of the car you have to lift the hood a bit to release the emergency latch. The hood should now open. Don't forget that the hood opens from the windshield side of the hood.

The bonnet release lever should be on the door frame of the drivers door near the accelerator pedal.

I need to replace the alternator belt on my 1991 Mercury Capri

This is easiest to get to if you drive the car up on ramps and work from both underneath and above.
Remove the undercage protective shields to expose it.
Belt will cost about $10.

How do you remove the soft top handle from the Mercury Capri?

I'm sure you have figured this out by now, 6 months later, but here goes...3 screws hold the handle in, 2 you can see, phillips, and one hidden by a trim piece that extends across the front of the top, left to right. That trim can be pried out with a screwdriver...it is held in place at 4 points...keep prying, it WILL come out. After replacing the latch just pop that trim piece back on, it just pushes into place...good luck...Chris
