The speedometer and odometer gets a signal from the speed sensor in the side of the transmission where the speedo cable once was. The problem could be the speed sensor, or something in the wiring, or in the instrument cluster. Or it could be that the transmission is failing internally.
More info needed. Is this a hatch back, sedan, or CRX? Is the odometer mechanical [old style] or digital [LCD numbers] The vehicle speed sensor [located behind the speedometer in the instrument cluster] drives both the speedometer and the odometer [mileage meter]. It sounds like an electric problem in the instrument cluster. Remove the instrument cluster and take it to your local speedometer repair shop. Look in the yellow pages for them. Or simply buy and install a used instrument cluster from a junk yard.

this is because of problem eith the speed do meter itsef. the gear component inside the speedometer may be damages. please try replacing the speedometer itself.

Just inside the rear passenger wheel well. This is a fairly easy job. Be careful not to get gas all over the place, and make sure you put the new filter on in the correct direction.
you will need to replace the fuel cap. The light doesnt tell you the cap is on or off. What itis doing is measuring the pressure in your tank. If it is not in a certain range then the light comes on.
the starting problem could be head gasket if it got really hot..... black smoke wouldn't be oil, and gas would stink but not black smoke if it's old, it wouldn't really matter if it had been sitting for 4 months. black smoke is probably caused by a gas mixture problem, or maybe a stuck fuel injector.
