It started out that my cooling fan was not coming on so the car ran hot. I changed the ECTS and now the fan comes on as soon as I start the car and will not turn off. I now also have the service soon light is on and will not go off, and the radiator low fluid light is on as well. The fluid level is full so I know it is not low so I don't understand why the light is on. Does anyone know why this is happening just because I changed the ECTS.

When you changed the ECTS the coolant level went down and the float for the coolant level stuck down. Look in the tank and you will see what I am talking about. There is 2 sensors on that car one is for the Gage and one is for the ECM. I usually change both so we know everything is good. I hope this helped. Have a nice day :-)

My fan will not come on but my car have never ran hot. I don't know if my fans are bad. how will I know or how long does it take for the cooling fan to come on?

here's what you can do... start your engine and let it run for about 20-30 mins. if the radiator fan still does not start, have your thermostat changed.

is the car running hot? some cooling fans never come on going down the road because the air comjng through the front of the vehicle keeps the car cool enough that it doesn't need to come on. but if it is overheating then you may want to check the cooling fan relay.

Car is overheating

First make sure the cooling system is full. This might require letting it cool and filling it more than once though the main raditor cap. Then it needs looked over for leaks. If it won;t stay full it'll overheat. The hose from the recovery tank to the raditor connection at the cap is a problem spot and it the raditor can't **** the coolant from the tank back into the raditor the engine will soon get low. If these things are alright then you neeed to watch it heat up, and see what's happening. The engine should worm up and as it does the upper raditor hose will warm and but hot but not right away. The side of the raditor should start to warm up soon after that, Touching the raditor it should warm up evenly from top to bottom if it doesn;t it's clogged. If the hose and engine get hot and the pressure inside the hoses rise but the raditor says cool then the therostate is sticking and needs to be changed. If the whole radidor gets hot till everythings too hot and the fan does'nt come on then you need to test the fan and it's fuses and connections. The cooling fan will be comanded on if you unplug the coolant temperture senser that's pluged into the side of the therosate hoseing as it's where the upper hose connects to the engine. If the fan seems to be coming on and hot air is coming off the back of the fan and it's still getting too hot and you've decided that the whole radidor is getting evenly hot then the engine may have an issue. Exhaust clogged up ( cat canvertor, muffer bent pipes) The check engine light might be on and the reasons it's on need to be examinded.

Are the cooling fans supposed to come on as soon as you start the car? I ran the car for 10 minutes and the fans didn't come on.

the fans are set ,, if the car thermostat hasn't released and rotated the inner water , they may not have come on yet , but the answer to your question is no, Not until the sensors detect a temp that turns them on

FIRST SCAN CAR TO SEE IF COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR IS WORKING SEE IF YOU GETTING ECTS CODES. IF NOT CHECK THE COOLING FAN FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH GOOD HOTWIRE THE COOLING FAN USING JUMPER WIRES TO CAR BATTERY.IF FAN DONT WORK REPLACE THE COOLING FAN MOTOR ITS FAULTY.

My cooling fan motor isn't turning on my 2004 Pontiac Sunfire. My car is running hot because of this. How can I change the motor myself without spending a tonne of money on a dealership.

first check if the motor is bad.We ran a hot wire from hot to hot on battery. The fan kicked on.Ours was an inline fuse so ran wire from the positive wire on fan to a wire (hot) to key switch. This way you turn on the key and fan comes on
