2004 F250 Gas Truck - auto trans. Put key in turn ignition, nothing. No power anywhere, battery is good. Battery is charged. Turned the key backwards and all dash lights came on briefly then disappeared again. The overdrive light on the shifter is dimly lit when key is in and ignition on. NOthing else is on. last week while driving truck shut down when turning, then came back on. is this a bad ignition switch?

the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. I have the same truck. The thing is designed so that the radio and dome light and even the windows will operate for a time which should expire immediately when you open the door. Try turning on the radio with engine running and then turn off the engine and just sit there and the radio should still play. Try the power windows - they too should go up and down. Finally open the drivers door and that should immediately kill the radio, windows and dome light. If it does not - you will need to report that problem to your dealer since the problem is in that timer feature which is part of the vehicles "brain". Sorry I can't be more helpful.

call a dealer and they will tell you you are suppose to change your transmission fluid every 2 years or 30,000miles but if you was carrying this much load you may have over heated the transmission so I would shop around and get a good deal at a transmission place where they can replace the filter and the fluid and adjust the bands on the transmission if needed

it has a C-6 transmission in it now, you can get an aftermarket overdrive, but you will need a new driveline after installation. replacing the C-6 with an E40D transmission is possible, but you will need to get a stand-alone computer to run it. (kaufmann engineering has them) also new driveline, coolant lines etc.
