Instrument panel reaction

I recently had maintenance performed on my 02 S80, (changing the timing belt and transmission service). When starting a cold start, the gear shift lights and instrument panel gauge which indicates the gear position, does not come on until the car reaches 3rd gear. Also feels like it is taking more rpms, to get it going until the 3rd gear kicks in.

It sounds like the gear selector module is going out. Other than replacing it I don't have much for you. I would take it to a shop you trust and have them run the codes to see if your getting a faulty signal code.

Sorry I can't help more.

I think it could be either a faulty ground or a loose connection to the alternator/ battery.

Hello, I recently replaced my wife's alternator on her 2000 Volvo S80 2.9L (6)cyl non turbo. I followed all the rules, disconnect (-) battery, relocate PS Pump, diconnected upper cooling hose. Installed...

Disconnect both battery cables and short them together for a few minutes. Then reconnect the battery and check the instrument panel. If this doesn't work, you may need to replace the instrument cluster (volvo calls this a drivers information module). I have replaced several of these and they are not cheap. You can't install a used unit and you will need to download software into the vehicle to make it work.

As soon as the car hits the mark of 60Kmiles, the owner has to make the decision. To keep it or get rid of it. If you decide to keep it, than prepare for more expensive tune Ups, or Preventive and Scheduled Maintenance Services. The squeaking noise means it is the time to replace the serpentine belt. It cost $30 and can be done by owner in 5 minutes, but from now you have to save some money, because between 60K and 90K the timing belt has to be replaced too with a new one. It is not the belt only, there is a kit with belt tensioners that cost $290 parts only.

My Mitsubishi Galant ES 2005 has completed 95000 kms. What necessary service and maintenance are required now...??

Timing belt for sure if old. I'd change all belts. An engine flush and radiator flush would be a good idea. If you've never had a tune up you might do so. Change plugs and wires yourself. A transmission service if you haven't had one in recent years.

Maintenance required light just came on and I have

1. Turn off the engine. The car should not be running when performing these steps.
2. Press and hold the select/reset knob. This knob is located on the instrument panel. It will be sticking out on the bottom right of instrument panel. It's the same knob that is used to reset the trip mileage or change what is displayed in the mileage/temperature box.
3.While holding the knob, turn the ignition switch (the key) to on (II) position. Continue holding the knob for approximately 10 seconds. The MAINT REQ'D light should turn off.

Timing belt and routine maintenance

I would get the belt from Mitsubishi because their belt seems to last in your situation.
