2009 Chev Aveo - Two weeks ago driving to work , when I would accelerate, every now and then it would miss - then be fine. Drove 25 miles at 60 - 65 mph. All of a sudden it missed, the engine light came on for a few seconds, then the HOLD light flashed for a few seconds, then stayed on. I replaced plugs and it run well for a week, but today it miss- again, and no lights came on. I had to pull over and stop the car and waited 5-10 mins to start again. It keeps missfiring at random it seems. It looks like its more frequent in normal traffic than in highways.

Ignition misfire, how where the sparkplug boots, they have a tendency to leak toward ground, the coil fail easy and you may need to replace that as well

I have a Chevy Aveo. The Hold light indicates that the transmission is manually placed in 3rd gear while above 35 MPH or from a dead stop it starts off in 2nd gear. Next to the floor shift is a button that activates the hold action
.Aveo has a 4 speed automatic transmission and the hold button can be used for highway driving as a passing gear instead of manually using the shift lever or pressing down on the accelerator far enough for the downshift of the transmission with Wide open throttle (WOT).
It can also be used in the winter for starting off on slippery conditions where taking off in first gear is to much to fast causing tires to spin.
You may have a faulty switch causing your transmission to inadvertently up & downshift making it feel like a miss.
Because your Check Engine light came on, there is now a trouble code stored in the computer memory.
Auto-zone offers FREE computer scanning diagnostics and will scan your computer for trouble codes that are stored in the cars computer. This is a FREE service because the majority of parts needed (if any) are bought there when a customer uses this service.
Good Luck & please get back to us with the results so it will help others with the same or similar problems.

Engine won't go over 5-10 MPH

You need to take the car to the dealer, because you need to recalibrate the electric throttle body with a TECH 2 Scanner, because the system went into a Limp mode.
