Speed sensor on 1996 Ford taurus

First speed erratic; a simple scan of the OBD2 computer will output any issues you may be having. With that you can tell if it is the sensor, the ****** or something else. Without any further information it could be any number of things.

Hope this helps.

Why is my ABS light on in my 1999 ford taurus?

The abs computer has sensed a problem, most likely is a bad wheel speed sensor or brake dust is stuck to sensor.Disconnect battery(-) and press brake pedal 5 times then reconnect if you still have light on then have the system scanned at a repair facility.

Taurus 2000 cruise control

i've been told it's speed sensors. I have the same on my 1999, but my light flashes when i try to engage. And 1 out of 10 times, it engages and I can cruise. Just not worth it to me to fix. Ford never claimed there was a problem.

The speedometer and cruise do not work.

I suspect you have a bad vehicle speed sensor. G to Autozone & ask them to run scan test for codes. They do it for free.
please rate for me, thanks. Report outcome.
