1995 lincoln T C very intermitent, shuts down while driving, cranks but wont start, then starts after an hour or the next day. sometimes when turning car off it wont start but cranks, same thing, it will start sometime latter and run perfect for a few days to few weeks.
SOUNDS LIKE THE CRANK SENSOR POSS. AS I HAVE ONE HERE THAT I JUST DIAGNOSED FOR THE SAME THING WITH A SCAN TOOL WHEN WE FINALLY GOT IT NOT TO START. I'LL FOLLOW UP AFTER SENSOR INSTALL
The crank sensor fixed the problem but I also checked the wiring harness going up behind the a/c compressor and found some corrosion on the braided ground shield. if this wasn't causing a problem now it would have soon as the corrosion was working it's way through the rubber casing of the sensor wiring. i cleaned all the corrosion with a baking soda/water spray combo I came up with years ago. dried all the wires and applied liquid electrical tape to the whole area. I just talked to the customer and it is running great. I was the third shop to work on this car arround here.

I had a similar issue where it seemed as though it wasn't catching. I too wasnt able to start the car sometimes till the next day. I have even been fine for month and then it happened again. I finally drove the car to my home town and got a check engine light on. Thank GOD for this! The code read 1359- Spark output malfunction in the ford book. This could apparently be an engine coil or spark plug. We shall see exactly when i take it to the shop again. Hope this helps and ill keep you all posted.
Try the fuel pump relay - driver's side in engine compartment
You need to see if any codes are set in computer. Is the check engine lamp on? It could be a bad crank sensor

Having same problem. Car fails to start if 'check engine' light is off but if 'check engine' light comes on, car will start without any problem.
It has a good battery it just won't crank over at all sometimes. So I pop the clutch and drive around. Then the next ten times it will start just fine. I have bypassed the cluth switch. Sometimes when I put into 1st and 2nd gear then back to neutral it will start. Sometimes it wont.
First thing in the morning when I put my car in drive it will take a few minutes before it will move
Once it gets going and warms up I seems to do fine the rest of the day.

Drove car, everything fine, parked in grocery storelot the first time it happened, then driveway the second time. Go to get in the car NOTHING> No lights, key wont turn, absolutely nothing. Come back in about 1 hour (grocery store), next morning ( driveway), car starts fine as if nothing happened. Open to suggestions, dealer was no help at this point.
