You got contaminated clutch disc usually from rear main oil seal, youll have to get it changed a clutch job
thanks for your reply. just to clarify, what is a contaminated clutch disc, and what part has to be changed? the corolla is an automatic transmission, and what part should i buy, and what should i tell the mechanic to change? how long does this job take if i have the parts already? btw, have you encountered many of this problem already, or is this a rare occurence. the car has only run 70,ooo kilometers, and wonder what caused this in a toyota. :) :) . Should I worry about this, and what is your estimate 1) amount of time to fix, 2) cost of parts, 3) cost of labor.
Will the vibration go away immediately after? do i have to change oil or tranmission seals?
Appreciate your advise, and looking forward to hearing from you again
For a automatic transmission second gear is the same as reverse but in oppposit direction you basically have a transmission internal failure, what you have is a torque shudder the transmission drum brake is trying to hold the drum so it can transfer power in affect its slips but you have low mileage for this car ask him if he can adjust the transmission band adjustment, its on the external part of the transmission yes he can do this and the cost is lower than any thing. do a transmission band adjustment, you might as well change the fluid. no more than one -half a turn
hello wow thanks for the advise. i have changed the transmission oil to dextron 3 type oil, which is supposed to be good, and also changed the transmission filter recently.
transmission band adjstment, where is this located? is this inside the transmission or outside? does he have to open up the gasket to reach this? coz just changed the transmission gasket when changed the transmission filter. Or can the transmission band adjustment be reached from outside? if I have facing the front of the car, is the tranmission band adjustment (TBA) on the left of the transmission or on the right? where can i find it? also kindly explain "one-half turn". :) half turn clockwise or counterclockwise? :) do you turn this with a wrench? looking forward to your advise. you are great.
On the outside, leave the fluid alone, it has a 10mm head and a 17 or 19 mm nut, loosen the nut and turn the adjustment then lock the nut down. the adjustment is clockwise, If your transmission is slipping it would slip in 3rd and 4th, or as you are going down the road,
glad to know it is just outside. will go to the mechanic and have this done. just in case he has to find it, if i am facing the car, is the 10mm head on the left side of the tranmission or on the right side.
do you mean my transmission is not slipping, and i should not worry? since the vibration is only on the 2nd gear (on automatic transmission). Is this a cause of a worry, or definitely fixed by adjusting the transmission band adjustment? does ONE-HALF TURN mean half a full turn? :) hear from you. Thanks
hello, went to the mechanic, and just want to double check, we saw the transmission band adjustment (if you are facing the car in front, the transmission is horizontal, and the transmission band adjustment is facing you (or facing the front of the car, covered by the oll dipstick). Just writing to check if this is correct? :)
as for the "one- half turn", :) does this mean "half" of a full turn, clockwise direction? :)
