I have a 2001 dodge caravan and the brake light and ABS light on my dashboard is on. My brake fluid is ok,and i don't know what ABS mean. My car is running and baking fine,so can you tell me what the problem may be?

If only the ABS light comes on, that usually indicates there ABS computer is detecting a defective wheel speed sensor, defective power relay for the ABS module or pump, or a lower than normal fluid level in a dedicated ABS fluid reservoir.

check brakes as sensors for anti lock brakes will start flashing and and doing things when brakes less than 25% if not that it is probably the abs sensor

Fuse 12 (10 Amps) may be burned out. Its located in "Junction Block". Losing
fuse 12 would kill the ABS systems and light the ABS dashboard light.

Fuse 11 (20 Amps) may be out. Its located in "Power Distribution Center". Losing fuse 11
would kill the brake lights, and light the ABS dashboard light. If fuse 11 is blown,
check your (3) brake light sockets for shorts of any type, or fuse 11 will just blow again.

well sounds like at this point you need to have the ABS system scanned for codes.generally, whenever those lights come on one or both it is an indication of a malfunction in the ABS sys.could just be a inexpensive sensor so dont panic yet...just get it scanned and go from there. hope this helped ley me know have a good day Darrell

Check for bad sensors or cracked hub ring

The ABS stands for (Anti-Lock Brake System). The air bag light or SRS stands for (Supplemental Restraint System). The lights are staying on because there is a problem with both systems. They have nothing in common with each other. I suggest you have this looked at by a professional. Working on the SRS can be hazardous so leave that to a pro.

First check brake fluid. If this is ok, one of the ABS sensors are giving a bad reading to the brake force distribution.

when you open the hood it will be on your right side near the windshield. you will need a long funnel because of the way it is tucked under the wiper blades. If you have to add brake fluid then you either have a leak or your brakes are so low that the fluid has dropped enough to make the light come on the dashboard. Have it checked out by an experienced person.

i would check the brake fluid to see if it is low,on some cars the brake light will come on if the brake fluid is low

the switch on the parking brake is defective
