2007 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7 litre with 3000 miles. I also had an issue with the throttle sticking wide open when passing on the highway. I had to turn the key off and back on to shut it down at about 85 mph. It then returned to normal. A very dangerous situation. I understand that there is no mechanical linkage - a fly by wire more or less. Just happened, so I haven't been back to the dealer yet.

  • blpbuffalo May 11, 2010

Thanks for your response. My Ram 2500 5.7 is completely stock and new with only 3400 miles on it. I haven't been able to find any other information on the web regarding a sticking problem like this. I'm sure the dealer will give me the brush off unless he can replicate the event. I'm waiting for the weather to get a little better before I take any chances trying to make it happen again.

MY 2007 DODGE RAM 1500 THUNDER ROAD HAS HAD AN ACCELERATOR STICKING PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT IT. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN ACCELORATED TO NEAR THE FLOOR...& THAT IS WHEN PASSING OR PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC. IT HAS CAUSED ME TO CROSS INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO AVOID A REAR END COLLISION. WITH MY FAMILY IN THE TRUCK, THAT'S QUITE A SCARE. CHRYSLER WANTS TO AVOID THE TRUTH WHICH I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. THEY ACT LIKE THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS...SO HERE I GO!

I just read about a recall. Although the manufacturing time line of the part does not really line up, there MIGHT be a possibility...

Problem Certain replacement k&n fuel performance kits, p/nos. 57-1509, 57-1511, 57-1511-1, 57-1517, 57-1517-1, 57-1527, and 57-1530. also, a small percentage of these kits were sold under the mopar performance parts brand name (p/nos. p5007069 and p5007070). all kits were manufactured from april 20, 1999, through september 23, 2004. these assemblies were manufactured as replacement equipment for certain dodge pickup trucks and suvs. a small piece of material from the tube wall could be sucked into the engine throttle body, which could cause the throttle to become jammed in the open position. Consequence A jammed open throttle could cause unintended acceleration of the vehicle, possibly resulting in a crash or increased stoping distances when braking. Resolution K&n will provide owners with a free repair kit along with repair instructions. the recall began on april 20, 2006. Component Engine and engine cooling Notes This recall only pertains to replacement k&n fuel performance kits and has no relation to any original equipment installed on dodge vehicles manufactured by daimlerchrysler.customers may contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty: 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.safercar.gov. Yes, and I almost died. Chrysler has refused to take this seriously and conduct an investigation no matter how hard I tried to convince them. You can read more here and also see pictures:http://imimpulsive.blogspot.com/2010/01/...

I have a 2008 dodge ram 1500 auto trans. and the sticking throttle has happened three times . It will happen every time you step on the throttle for fast acceloration, You must shut the engine OFF and quick;y try and avoid an accident and pull off the road , Wait a few minutes ( maybe five ) and the throttle will unstick . This problem if potentially LIFE THREATENING ! There are so many of this complaint I can not understand why Chrysler doesn't address it .

My 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L has started sticking. two times in the last week. I've pulled over and thrown it in park or neutral and turned it off. Once stopped I turn it back on, rev it to try to get the cable unstuck and either turn it off before it redlines or it unsticks.

RE: my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L - this morning the truck won't idle. Seems that throttle is stuck closed. My issue might be cold weather related.

Our 2002 Dodge Durango 4.7 when started goes to full throttle 6000 rpm and has to be immediately shut off.

John, first make sure it is not floor mat or carpet holding gas peddle down causing throttle issue. If all looks good there, would suggest you check throttle cable for being seized, throttle body seized or return spring faulty/broke. You may want to contact a good Tech, have them diagnose and estimate repair. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Air conditioner stops when i accelerate rapidly

The air cond compressor is supposed to stop, but only if the gas pedal is pushed to the floor.
If it is cutting off and the pedal is not all the way down, you could have a problem with the throttle position sensor.
Cutting off during hard acceleration gives you a few more horsepower.

2007 Dodge Ram Sticky Gas peddle

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm Here is a link to all the recalls on your truck.

As for the problem with the sticky throttle. Dodge has a issue with there throttle body sticking when the pedal is hammered. There is a relatively easy problem to fix. Basically you just get some throttle body cleaner, clean the throttle body, and you also get some grease (not oil) and you lube the linkage on your throttle on the top of your engine.

Accelerator got stuck while passing a truck.

When you passed the truck... I guess you couldn't tell if the pedal was stuck since you were focused on braking.

When you brake, your brakes will overcome the acceleration of the car causing it to slow down, but like you describe, the second you let go of your brake, your car accelerates again.

It would sound like either the throttle pedal (gas pedal), the throttle line (connects pedal to throttle assembly) or your throttle assembly (on the engine) may be sticking....
