My 2005 Jag S-Type 6 cylinder check engine light came on and while in parked position the check engine light started to blink yellow and stated "Restricted Performance" what does that mean?

Here what you need to do get some carburetor cleaner spay a little in the throttle body if it start you have a fuel problem if it doesn't start you have an ignition problem check compression on cylinder 1 should be 180 if not maybe the timing belt chain jump also buy a cheap noid light at Autozone check n see while cranking it to see if the noid light blinks that call injector impluse also turn your key on n see if you have a check engine light if not may be a bad fuse or fuseable link on the positive side of the battery also what r u working on engine size 4 r 6 that would help me help you good luck

Front bank is the even numbers and rear bank the odd numbers with number one being the r/h rear (from the driving position)

the problem you have is caused by the pats anti theft system is not recognising your key it may be the transponder or you may need a new key and get it programmed by a jag dealer or someone with the needed gear to do it with best advise take it to a jag dealer

You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing... spark / fuel / compression.

All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into the cylinder like it should.

Compression tester, spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these tests.

COULD HAVE BAD FUEL WRONG TYPE FUEL COULD NEED NEW AIR FILTER. DIESEL ENGINE NEEDS AIR TO OPERATE.IF AIR FILTER RESTRICTED.DIESEL ENGINE WONT RUN AND CLOGGED FUEL FILTER CAUSE STARTING PROBLEMS PROBLEMS WITH TURBOCHARGER OR TURBOCHARGER ACTUATOR WOULD CAUSE ENGINE RUN VERY SLOW NO POWER ON TAKE OFF.I SAY PROBLEM IN FUEL SYSTEM OR AIR INTAKE SYSTEM.IF YOU HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL FLASH ON.

The check engine light comes on if there is an issue.But Honda also has preset the Check engine light to come on to remind you of oil changes.If you want to shut the Check engine light off.There is a Yellow Reset Button inside the Fuse panel.

the blinking light is blinking a code that ID's the cylinder or cylinders that is mis firing, count the blinks, poss causes are defective ignition coil (one for each cylinder) or a defective spark plug, these are the common reasons other problems of course like a dead cylinder from low compression like a bent or burnt valve can also cause this, but that is very unlikely, U don't say engine type so assume this is a gas engine
