Humbing noise from breather

I have a 98 ford explorer sport 4.0 L. EFI When it gets hot outside it makes a loud humbing/roaring sound from the breather and when you accelerate it stops, only does it at idle. What would be the problem??

Thank you

In hot weather, after it has been running for a while, it howls when idling, of operating a low speed. Sound goes away at higher rpm.

I have a 1997 Explorer Limited AWD and it has a loud roaring sound coming from the left front axle. I have already replaced bearing assembly, but still have problem. Any suggestions?

Bummer. What I do is in a vacant lot, drive the car and steer hard left, then right. The thinking is to load and unload the bearing on each side. Sometimes the noise travels and can mislead you. If the sound gets quieter on a right turn, it is the right side bearing that is suspect.
Sometimes you need to put the car on a lift (ALL 4 wheels safely off the ground) and listen with a stethoscope....

Front right wheel making loud sound

if the sound is a roaring noise, replaced the wheel bearings, if its a squeeling or rubbing when pressing the brake pedal while the vehicle is in motion replaced the pads and mayne the rotors

98 ford contour 2.5- a loud roar from front drivers side of car

This sounding like an Idler bearing problem, Sounds like the idler bearing that supports your belt is either loose or needs replading. I say this because when you get the RPMs up on the motor the noise should almost disappear?

Ford Windstar Roaring Noise

If the vehicle is moving I would suggest the look at the wheel bearings. they could be warned out.

Load roaring noise when driving vehicle

Does the noise change pitch when you weave the steering wheel back and forth. Possible front wheel bearing.
