Adjust the valves in the order the cylinders fire one cylinder at a time turning the motor for each, slightly loose.start the car and let it warm up a bit then adjust the valves while running.most techs go down one side then the other. you don`t say what motor it is,but some motors valves rocker arm nuts are torqued so you can torque the rocker nut for all the cylinders, then start the car and let it run so the lifters will pump up and thats all you have to do with this type of system,as there is no other adjustment to do.

Neither hot or called, day or night.whether it a 4 cyl.6cyl,8cly. The rules are going to be the same.Turn the engine (its easier with spark plugs out) Watch the rocker are one will go up the other down and vice versa as they are going up and down they eventual will be at an equal level when they match that is where and when you make the adjustment.(irregardless of where the piston is at or the firing is at this is the adjustment and this will be the range). If it call for a feeler gauge go ahead stick it in there if that valve lines up with the exhaust then its a exhaust valve if it line up with the intake its a intake valve. Now being equal to each other (make sure the nuts there locking nuts are good) turn the nut as your turning the nut feel the push rod its loose right and turning keep turning down the nut and keep twisting the push rod as you turn the nut eventually the pushrod doesnt twist no more, the moment the push rod stop twisting as you are turning down the nut stop right there, now turn it 1/4 and lock it down. You just adjusted one valve Now do the same to the other one. tighten the nut twist the push rod always twisting the push rod and tightening the nut.And that my friend is all it takes... By the way you should soak the lifter in oil if you didnt thats okay and when you get done pour oil on the valves and on the lifters.

I want to know the tappet adjustment for Isuzu 4jk1?

A sure sign that it's time for a valve lash adjustment is if your engine is making a loud clicking or tapping noise when starting up or if you experience a loss in engine power. You can find more details on the suggested adjustment frequency here.
https://www.allstatepeterbilt.com/blog/valve-adjustments-explained

How To Check Tappet Clearance
  1. Taking all safety precautions.
  2. Make sure the piston is on TDC. ...
  3. Make sure the engine has cooled down.
  4. Loosen the lock nut of the rocker arm.
  5. Now adjust the tappet clearance between the rocker arm & valve stem by tightening or loosing the nut below the lock nut.
https://www.marinesite.info/2012/02/1why-tappet-clearances-is-given-and-how.html

To adjust the valve clearances, use a spanner or a socket wrench on the crankshaft-pulley bolt. Turn the engine in its normal direction of rotation until No. 1 piston is at the top dead centre ( TDC ) of the compression stroke .

there is no such thing,
sorry
here ill paste the install push rods/rockers. lines

(1) Rotate the crankshaft until the "V8" mark lines
up with the TDC mark on the timing chain case
cover. This mark is located 147° ATDC from the No.1
firing position.
(2) Install the push rods in the same order as
removed.
(3) Install rocker arm and pivot assemblies in the
same order as removed. Tighten the rocker arm bolts
to 28 N·m (21 ft. lbs.) torque.
CAUTION: DO NOT rotate or crank the engine during
or immediately after rocker arm installation.
Allow the hydraulic roller tappets adequate time to
bleed down (about 5 minutes).
(4) Install cylinder head cover.
(5) Connect spark plug wires.

Blown Head Gasket repair - How do I set the valves correctly? DO I need to turn the crank shaft or just tighten to remove LASH?

what type of engine are you working on. On GM small blocks you will need to turn the crank to zero on the timing tab, which will bring #1 piston to the top ( you can remove #1 plug and verify #1 piston is at the top) Then you will need to turn the rocker arm nut on the intake valves until the push rod is just finger tight, (turn the push rod as you are tightening the nut) and then turn it 3/4 of a turn. once you have done the intake valves you need to rotate the crank 180 degrees to bring up the exhaust valves and do the same procedure to them. If it is the valve lash it should start. Hope this helps, this will probably work on most cars.

How to adjust valves on Toyota 1991 23re engine

Very carefully my friend. Kidding. Ok, remove the valve cover and anything in your way of removing it. By hand, with a socket and ratchet, on the crankshaft bolt head, turn the engine over to get #1 piston to top dead center on compression stroke. You'll need to find out what the valve lash should be in order to adjust properly, I run the 22R engines and only have specs for that, and have a feeler gage to place between the valve head and rocker arm. Check the gap on the intake valve for it is in position to adjust now because the cam lobe is at the farthest away from the valve. If it needs adjusted closer, turn the nut loose and screw the center in to tighten and out to give more gap, then tighten the jam nut after adjusted. Now turn the crank to bring #3 to top dead center and adjust that intake. Once done go back to #1 exhaust and adjust it. You'll know when the #3 is TDC when the rocker is loose on intake valve along with #1 exhaust. Now bring #4 piston up to TDC and adjust intake valve. Like I said, you'll know when it's @TDC when that rocker is loose, but with the spark plugs out you can stick a screwdriver in the plug hole to be sure it's up. Firing order on 4 cylinders is 1-3-4-2 so do your adjustment in that order for each intake valve and go back to the last one adjusted and do the exhaust valve.

Can i just tighten the rocker arm bolts to25ftlbs and does that set the valves i replaced the lifters and pushrods

Hi, if the specs. state 25ftlbs, then the motor is turned by hand to reach TDC (mark on the front pulley), rocker arm is tightened on all open valve areas, turn again then do next set. Best of luck.

Needed torqur spec on rocker arms on 1994 gmc 5.7liter

There is no torque spec for rockers. You tighten until there is no backlash, then preload another 1/4 to 1/2 turn. With #1 at TDC on the compression stroke, you adjust #1 by this procedure. You can also adjust intake valves on #'s 2, 5 & 7 as well as exhaust on 3's 1, 3, 4 & 8. Then rotate the engine until #6 is TDC on compression stroke and adjust intakes on #'s 3. 4. 6 & 8 and exhaust on #'s 2, 5, 6 & 7. Good luck.

What are the torque specifications for a 3.5l v6 1995 ford tarus rocker arm

For each valve, rotate the crankshaft until the valve lifter rests on the heel (base circle) of the camshaft lobe. Position the rocker arm(s) over the push rods, then install the rocker arm seats. Tighten the rocker arm seat retaining bolts to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).

Final-tighten the rocker arm retaining bolt(s) to 19-25 ft. lbs. (25-35 Nm). For final tightening, the camshaft may be in any position.

Hope helps.

Rocker arm torque specs on a 97 gmc jimmy 4.3

  1. For the 4.3L engines which are equipped with screw-in type rocker arm studs with positive stop shoulders, tighten the rocker arm adjusting nuts against the stop shoulders to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm) on 1994-96 models and 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm) on 1997-99 models. No further adjustment is necessary, or possible.
  2. For most 4.3L engines which are not equipped with screw-in type rocker arm studs and positive stop shoulders, properly adjust the valve lash. For details on valve lash adjustment, please refer to the procedure in Routine Maintenance . (see below)
4.3L Engine

The 4.3L engines may be equipped with either of 2 rocker arm retaining systems. If your engine utilizes screw-in type rocker arm studs with positive stop shoulders, no valve lash adjustment is necessary or possible. If however, you engine utilizes the pressed-in rocker arm studs, use the following procedure to tighten the rocker arm nuts and properly center the pushrod on the hydraulic lifter:
  1. To prepare the engine for valve adjustment, rotate the crankshaft until the mark on the damper pulley aligns with the 0? mark on the timing plate and the No. 1 cylinder is on the compression stroke. You will know when the No. 1 piston is on it's compression stroke because both the intake and exhaust valves will remain closed as the crankshaft damper mark approaches the timing scale.

Another method to tell when the piston is coming up on the compression stroke is by removing the spark plug and placing your thumb over the hole, you will feel the air being forced out of the spark plug hole. Stop turning the crankshaft when the TDC timing mark on the crankshaft pulley is directly aligned with the timing mark pointer or the zero mark on the scale.
The valve arrangement is as follows:

E-I-I-E-I-E (right bank-front-to-rear) E-I-E-I-I-E (left bank-front-to-rear)

  1. With the engine on the compression stroke, adjust the exhaust valves of cylinders No. 1, 5 & 6 and the intake valves of cylinders No. 1, 2 & 3 by performing the following procedures:
    1. Back out the adjusting nut until lash can be felt at the pushrod.
    2. While rotating the pushrod, turn the adjusting nut inward until all of the lash is removed.
    3. When the play has disappeared, turn the adjusting nut inward 1 3 / 4 additional turns.

  2. Rotate the crankshaft one complete revolution and align the mark on the damper pulley with the 0? mark on the timing plate; the engine is now positioned on the No. 4 firing position. This time the No. 4 cylinder valves remain closed as the timing mark approaches the scale. Adjust the exhaust valves of cylinders No. 2, 3 & 4 and the intake valves of cylinders No. 4, 5 & 6, by performing the following procedures:
    1. Back out the adjusting nut until lash can be felt at the pushrod.
    2. While rotating the pushrod, turn the adjusting nut inward until all of the lash is removed.
    3. When the play has disappeared, turn the adjusting nut inward 1 3 / 4 additional turn.

I need to know how to set the timing belt on a 1995 nissan 3.0 4x4 kingcab truck

I'm going to copy the procedure from Autozone.com below. I've never seen such a complicated way of getting the tension right, but better to follow their instructions, I guess. Note that they ask you to loosen the rocker shafts, but they never tell you to put them back. I will add that.

c42df83.gif
To install:

6. Remove both cylinder head covers and loosen all rocker arm shaft retaining bolts.

The rocker arm shaft bolts MUST be loosened so that the correct belt tension can be obtained.
  1. Install the tensioner and the return spring. Using a hexagon wrench, turn the tensioner clockwise, then temporarily tighten the locknut.
  2. Make sure that the timing belt is clean and free from oil or water, before installation.
  3. Install the timing belt. Align the white lines on the belt with the punchmarks on the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets. Be sure to have the arrow on the timing belt pointing toward the front belt covers.
A good way (although rather tedious) to check for proper timing belt installation is to count the number of belt teeth between the timing marks. There are 133 teeth on the belt; there should be 40 teeth between the timing marks on the left and right-side camshaft sprockets, and 43 teeth between the timing marks on the left-side camshaft sprocket and the crankshaft sprocket.
  1. While keeping the tensioner steady, loosen the locknut with a hexagon wrench.
  2. Turn the tension approximately 70-80 degrees clockwise with the wrench, then tighten the locknut.
  3. Turn the crankshaft in a clockwise direction several times, then slowly set the No. 1 piston to TDC of the compression stroke.
  4. Apply 22 lbs. (10 kg) of pressure (push it in) to the center span of the timing belt between the right-side camshaft sprocket and the tensioner pulley, then loosen the tensioner locknut.
  5. Using a 0.0138 in. (0.35mm) feeler gauge (the actual width of the blade must be 1/2 in. or 12.7mm thick), positioned as shown in the illustration, slowly turn the crankshaft clockwise. The timing belt should move approximately 2 1/2 teeth. Tighten the tensioner locknut, then turn the crankshaft slightly and remove the feeler gauge.
  6. Slowly rotate the crankshaft clockwise several more times , then set the No. 1 piston to TDC of the compression stroke; recheck all alignment marks.
  7. Install the upper and lower timing belt covers.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.

When installing the rocker arm shafts, be certain that they are installed in their original positions.
  1. Make sure the camshaft knock pin is at the top of the camshaft and that the lobe is not in the lifted position. If servicing the left-side cylinder head, set the No. 1 piston at TDC of its compression stroke, then tighten the rocker shaft bolts for cylinder No. 2, 4 and 6 cylinders. If servicing the right-side cylinder head, set the No. 4 piston at TDC of its compression stroke and tighten the rocker shaft bolts for cylinder No. 1, 3 and 5 cylinder rocker shaft bolts. Tighten all bolts gradually, in two or three stages, to 13-16 ft. lbs. (18-22 Nm).
  2. Install the cylinder head cover(s).
