Makes no difference where you got the vehicle, A recall is a recall no matter who you are. If you have this recall problem, take it to any dealer and they cannot refuse you.

These vehicles seem to have a problematic short, my grandfather has the same vehicle with the same problem, i found the short under the carpet on the driver side of the vehicle, under the gas pedal, sometimes wires can crack and break.

I need help with wiring for a 78 superbeetle convertible. The gas guage does not work and I think I have crossed something in the back of teh speedometer cluster

Only two wires to any gauge.. One is a live feed and one is from the accessory. So. Ground one side of guage and it should move fully to one side. If not check live input. If ok find fuel tank sender and check colour of wire to gauge.

1983 Dodge 150 instruments are not working but the speedometer is the lights work in the gauges but the gauges their self are not working

Because multiple gauges do not function I would look for a blown fuse. If the fuse is ok. I recommend pulling the gauge cluster and check connections. Its and older truck. I think either the contacts in the connecter, going to the gauge cluster may be dirty. Pull the connecters, blow them off, reconnect them and check to see if they are working. If not you will need to test a couple of the gauges with a multimeter. If it isn't the wiring then it is the cluster. There are companies that I use to rebuild clusters. If you have to go that route ask and I'll forward contact information. Other wise you can also check out LMC truck parts. Ive used them in the past. I recommend them too. Good Luck.

My 2000 Chevy s15 Rpm and Gas Gauge is not working

I didn't see an s15 in that model year, in my database?
If the speedometer works but the tach doesn't, I think something is wrong with instrument cluster?
GM has had a problem with fuel gage sending units. The sending units are not hard wired to instrument cluster, they send signal to pcm, the pcm sends serial data to instrument cluster, telling the cluster the gage settings.
It may be possible to use different size resistors in place of the fuel level sending unit, to see if fuel gage reacts properly to different resistors, if the gage reacts properly, then I think the problem is the fuel gage sending unit.

Why does speedometer/odometer work intermittently?

Pull your negative battery cable for 30 min see if it resets your sytem. Guages should jump up and drop back then work perfectly. Had to do this with my 2005 monte carlo

How do I fix my gauges? (Ie, gas gauge, temp gauge, speedometer, odometer)

Fuses? Blown fusible link? Most gauges work by getting 12 volts from the ignition switch when on, and getting a ground from the sender. Often the 12 volt supply wire goes to more than one so if dead, both will fail. If you have a wiring diagram, you might find which wire to cluster should be hot, and trace it backward to find the issue. Easier to check for ignition switch feed first.

Speedometer cable replacement

All 1992 Chevrolet vehicles are equipped with electronic speedometers. If you have to fix the speedometer, you must pull out the gauge cluster, reach behind it and rewire the speedometer. You can save money by performing the task in your garage or driveway and the entire process should take less than 30 minutes.

Park the Chevy and turn off the engine.

    • 2

Remove the two screws from the dash above the steering wheel with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull off the dashboard. Lower the steering wheel as far down as it will go.

    • 3

Remove the screws from the gauge cluster; there is one screw in each corner and they can be loosened with a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 4

Pull the gauge cluster toward you and reach behind it. Connect both of the wiring connectors at the rear of the cluster to the gauge cluster itself. The left wiring connector is for the speedometer.

Reinstall the gauge cluster and its screws. Reattach the dashboard above the steering wheel and secure its screws.

'04 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel. I pulled the instrument cluster to try and replace a burned out bulb; much to my surprise there are no "bulbs" in the cluster, just something that look like soldered...

Sounds like you have a wire grounding out somewhere, or could be in the new cluster you put in. Check all your connections in the wiring, you could put the old cluster back in to see if it corrects your speedometer then you would know if its the "new" cluster you just put in giving you problems or whether you pulled a wire loose replacing the cluster.
Hope I was of some help to you. Good luck

Take out the pc board and examine the copper traces. On my '94 Jetta I found one corroded trace that disabled the the same functions. I had to solder a wire to fix the connection. Good luck.
