The cabin air filter is located on the passenger side of the cowl. after opening the hood, remove the windshield wipers and the black covering ( 2 small T-30 screws, and a few body grommets). after you remove the cowl there will be a grey accordion looking filter in the cowl, remove that and replace with the new filter.

Not true guys the 2004 dodge ram 1500 does not have a cabin air filter. your not going to find one under the glove compartment nor on cowl. if its blowing semi cold air and the r123 is full then its a factory default inside the blower area there's a flap that opens to let the air in over time the plastic hinges break and it doesn't open, closing and having semi cold air in. you need to take the glove compartment off and on top there's a plastic vent area cut off the grates, remove the blower fan then push the flap up removing it through the plastic grates that you removed. put everything back and cool air enjoy. hope it helps
I just help my friend with his 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 work out why the a/c low air pressures., remove fan motor under glove box . Reach up and take out the broken flap and reinstall fan and it should blow strong air again.

Open the glove box
Remove all of the contents in the glove box
On the right side, dis-engage the rod going to the split plastic pin on the glove box door
Squeeze both other sides of the glove box to defeat the stops that keeps the glove box from falling open
Observe the box in the area vacated by letting the glove box drop down, this is the heater box
Locate a rectangular cover (approx 7 " x 2"), it is located on the face of the box; facing you.
Pull this cover out towards you, the cabin air filter is located in the tray that is connected to this rectangular cover.
This should help you replace it.

Where can you get a new cabin air filter for the truck? I have been looking everywhere and no one carries air filters for this truck. On line people are constantly arguing whether or not the 2004 dodge ram has a cabin air filter. Judging by the lack of part availability I'm inclined to say it doesn't have one. I would love to be wrong so if someone could post a link to a cabin air filter designed for a 2004 dodge ram 1500 I would be greatful
