Hello, It can be the blower motor itself, which you can test by unplugging a connector on it and use a pair of wires the same diameter as those on the connector. Then run the ends of the test wires to the battery and carefully touch the opposite ends to the motor terminals while not allowing the wires to touch each other. If the motor spins then your problem is likely the blower motor resistor.

If the motor does not spin; remove it and go to an autoparts store like Autozone, Oreillys, or Advance and have it tested again before purchasing a different part.

The counter person at the autoparts can look up your blower motor resistor if the blower is good. They have diagrams for the location of this part. Some parts require removal of underdash ductwork and others can be accessed from the engine compartment. If this part is buried in the dash, some people go to a Salvage yard to retrieve the part. Working on a wreck will allow you to learn what to do and not tear up your own vehicle doing it.

I have a 2002 Mercury Villager estate and the blower motor is not working at all. The heat works fine and the fuses are good. What should I do for the next step in fixing the issue

Using a voltmeter check for battery voltage at the motor , if voltage ok replace motor if no voltage check for blown fuse or faulty switch .

We have a 2002 villager, the fan only works on Hi setting, Checked the 20 Amp fuse in the panel to the left of the steering column, as well as the larger fuse in the engine compartment. Both are fine. Is...

The blower motor doesn't use a different fuse depending on the speed. The most common cause for your concern is bad blower motor resistors. The resistors lower the voltage to the blower motor so it doesn't turn at full speed when you have it set to fan speed 1. When the resistors blow out the only setting that works is full speed because it doesn't go through the resistor.

The front blower switch works only in 4 position

it the resister in the plenum case. Your blower motor is going and drawing too much current. If repat failure, replace the blower motor. not hard.

it could be the electronic blend door motor. Try not changing any settings for a week and see if the fuse blows. Leave it on floor/defrost.

usually it is the bearing in the blower motor going bad. I believe it's a 25 amp fuse. The motor draws about one amp for each volt increase up to 14 volts.

check fuses, check power and ground at blower motor.if the blower has only one speed it will mean a resistor is shot.an easy test if blower is not working at all is to turn blower on hi and tap on the bottom of blower motor with hammer if the blower motor kicks in then you know the motor is the problem.if the motor still does not work, the wiring to the switch and the switch will need to be tested,if the wiring and switch are ok,then replace the blower motor.
