Hi,The water pump is assembled with a sealed bearing (lubed from the manufacturer)
Usually you can feel play in the bearing when its worn.
The seal of the water pump will squeal if it runs without water (it needs the coolant to lubricate it )
So is it possible there`s an air lock in the pump area of the coolant system
Other than that the noise could be coming from something else that the same belt drives

Hi, I have a 1992 Nissan Hardbody that has 166k and it runs great! Squeeling noise that starts when i turn the engine on. I replaced all the belts 1st went away and came back then the waterpump went away...

There are a number of possible causes. Try to isolate the source of the squealing. You can pinpoint sounds using a mechanics stethoscope or a piece of tubing. I would suspect a bad tensioner pulley or a bearing in the alternator, water pump, power steering pump or a/c compressor. You could remove the belts and start the engine to be sure the sound isn't coming from elsewhere. Adjust the tension of the belt if not equipped with an automatic tensioner. Belt dressing spray might help in some cases.

Does your car have air conditioning.? Most cars use the A/C compressor to dry the air for the defrost. It will also come on for a short time when you first start the car. With the engine running after the squeel has stopped , try turning the A/C on , If the squeel starts again , then I would think your A/C compressor is seized. Also . are you sure the 2 new belts are tight enough?

The heater does not heat up the truck (the heater core is OK). The truck idle isolates when cold, normal when it heats up. The waterpump squeels loud for about a minute when cold and stops squeeling...

You need to tighten your fan belt, loosen the top and bottom bolts on the alterntor and pry it side ways until it is tight. If it still squeels then do it again to make it tighter.
