Running problem My friend has a 95 honda accord. It starts, but will only run if you hold the key in the start position. If you let the key go to the accs. it will die.

1995 Accord- exact same issue... driving along and the car shut off. Kills on restart unless the key is held in the start position.

Maintenance require light is flashing on my 2002 Honda Accord Coupe. What does this mean?

its either due for an oil change or the last place that changed oil did not rest it. If the oil has been changed and is not due than you can reset it.

-with the key in the run position make sure the odometer is displayed.
-turn the key off
-press and hold the trip reset button on the instrument cluster and turn the key to the run position (do not start the vehicle)
-continue to hold the trip reset button until the maintenance light goes out.
-once the light is out let go of the button and start the car. The light should come on for a couple of seconds and then go out.

How do I reset the maintenance required light after general servicing has been done for Honda Accord 2004

On my 99 accord I start with the key in the off position. Hold down the Select/Reset button on the dash panel near the gauges. While holding the button, turn the key to the on position (not starting the car) and wait about 5-10 seconds and it will turn off. You may then release the button and turn the car back to the off position.

I have had this problem on two separate honda accords. Can you keep the engine running if you turn the key to start and then let the key come back just a little? I have had two faulty switches. I could keep the engine running but I had to hold the key between run and start position.

Car turns but won't stay running

Check fuel pump fuse and all other fuses, check brake switch, Also, a worn ignition switch will cause the car to start sometimes but not always. Try turning the switch to on position, then jiggle the key around in the switch while pushing in a bit...now start the car...did it start? If yes, replace switch and/or key cylinder....

i`d say your battery is already dead(not able to hold charge) the car requires the continuous flow of power from the altinator. if the the power dies then your altinator is not supplying it properly. get it checked and replaced if nesesary.

My 95 honda civic started but when I went to drove off it cut off and now it won't start but it will turn over?

I just replaced the switch connected to the ignition key in my niece's Honda. it was worn out. With hers you could hear the motor run if you held the key in the start position with the starter on but when you release the key to be in the run position the motor dies.Your problem kinda sounds the same.
I hope this info helps you.

95 Accord turns over but periodically won't start

this could be a few things when the car WONT start open the air filter chamber and get a helping hand , remove the air filter and spray some startingfluid into the tube going to the engine, have the helping hand turn the key over if the car will run then its a fuel problem, it could be a bad pump clogged system, bad spark plugs, or a slipping timing belt.... Try this first everytime you get in the car before starting it, turn everything off (fans,ac,lights, radio, radar detector,) sit down and turn the key to the run position (NOT THE START) wait 10 seconds and then turn the key if it starts then it could be a bad fuel pump..... YOu should be able to hear a slight Humming noise coming from the gas tank ... do this and let me know the results my e-mail address is [email protected]
