There should be 2 screws that hold the light lens in place, that you take out to get to the bulbs, once the lens is removed.if the lights are in the trunk tailgate and there is no screws then with the trunk lid open and you look inside above the area the lights you should see the bulb sockets that you turn a 1/4 turn to remove the socket to replace the bulbs.

Where is the fuse box loacted on a 2005 toyota corolla.... my two back license plate blubs blew and I want to replace them but cant find the fuses.

The fuse box should be located by your right leg near the bottom of the dashboard. There should be an access panel that un clips and allows you to access all the fuses for the interior and exterior lighting.

How to replace license plate lights

Follow the Steps on how to replace license plate light on your car.

    1. Open the trunk and locate the trunk liner retainer clips.Use the Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the center plastic screw of the retainer clip about 1/4 turn, just enough to raise the head of the screw from the base of the clip. Pull the screw up, and lift the clip out of the liner. Use a flathead screwdriver to help pry it out. Remove enough of the clips to allow access to the license plate light sockets. Pull the liner back.

    2. Remove the emergency trunk release handle by popping off the top cover of the handle. Use the needle nose pliers to gently squeeze the prongs on the shaft, while removing the handle.

    3. Unplug the wire harness from the license plate light bulb socket the release clip on the side of the outlet.Twist the license plate light bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise, using the needle nose pliers again. Do not apply too much pressure to the pliers; you may damage the socket.

    4. Remove the bulb from the socket, and replace it with a new one.

    5. Replace the socket into the socket assembly, and plug the wire harness back in. Test the bulb by turning on the lights of the Corolla, then turn them off again.

    6. Replace the trunk emergency release handle, and replace the hood liner and the retainer clips. Remove the old bulb and tools, and close the trunk.

HOW TO CHANGE LICENSE PLATE BULB ON 2004 COROLLA LE

After looking for the answer to do the same I found two sites with the same 8 step instructions.
Here is one of the two URLS http://www.ehow.com/how_5028612_replace-license-plate-light-bulb.html
From what I see before tearing into it this appears to be the solution though I'll know tomorrow after following it.
Tools: 1 flathead screw driver, 1 phillips screw driver, 1 needle nose pliers
Overview of 8 steps
Must remove several liner clips then emergency trunk release handle to clear access then remove wiring to lamps, remove burnt bulb, replace bulb and reverse steps to put things back together. The steps tell where to gently squeeze clips or unlock clip screws and bulb with 1/4 turn twists and when to pry with flat head screw driver.
Remember standard rule: if it feels like it is being forced then stop and look.
