The code, P1391 is "Sometimes, I can't see the crank or cam sensor signal."
Maybe the wiring from the crank or cam sensor is damaged. I have seen instances where the crank sensor wire has been burned and damaged by the exhaust. Have a look in that direction.

Since you've replaced all the expensive components 1st.i suggest you look towards clogged fuel injectors next.try some sea foam, add it to your fuel tank to clean the fuel injectors.your computer tells the injectors and the crank sensor tells them when to pulse. you may only have partially clogged fuel injectors or water in the fuel.the seafoam will dry up any moisture in your fuel tank and also unclog fuel injectors. lucas fuel injector cleaner is what i usually recommend, but your issue call for extreme cleaning. try the seafoam,it costs $7.99 per bottle and treats 25 gallons of fuel.follow the instructions on the bottle.but if you suspect alot of water in the fuel tank,i suggest clear rubbing alcohol !/2 bottle to your fuel tank directly.it will not hurt the engine, but will remove excess water from the gas tank. thank you,for choosing fixya.com!

2002 Chevy Astro P1345 possible short in the wiring? Where should I start?

This a very common problem.
A loose CMP sensor causing a variance in the sensor signal
Excessive free play in the timing chain and gear assembly
Incorrectly installed distributor - 1 tooth off in either advance or retard positions
A loose distributor rotor on the distributor shaft
A faulty crank position sensor

Keep getting code p1391

You may need a shop manual for this one.
Code 1391 means the crank sensor or cam sensor signal is not steady or dead at times.
The distributor acts as the cam sensor, so it could be that or the crank sensor, or a problem with the wiring harness.

2002 dodge ram 1500 code of p1391. Loss of camshaft crank message. How to fix?

Ladies and gentlemen I have a 2002 ram 1500. 5.9 magnum V8. If you've already replaced your sensors as in cam aka pickup coil located in distributor and crank stop there. Reason why is 1 question. Did you replace your transmission. If yes let's talk about the flex plate. If it has the slightest bend then that's the problem. Some aftermarket crank sensors can be too long. You tighten it down and couldn't tell. I've dumped thousands into mine. Low compression cracked heads. I bought new heads timing gears and chain distributor spark plugs wires lifters and rods. So all that for a 20$ flexplate. As soon as I replaced it started the truck instant fix. No rough idle smooth as can be.

Code P1391, replaced camshaft and crankshaft sensors, plugs and wires, rotor, and a couple fuses, can a loose or bad distributor be the cause for this code?

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P1391: "INTERMITTENT LOSS OF CMP OR CKP"
This DTC is monitored with the engine cranking or running. This DTC will be stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when the PCM FAILURE COUNTER reaches 96 failures for 2 consecutive trips.
Posiible causes are: Craknkshaft Position (CKP) sensor improperly installed, defective CKP sensor, defective distributor, defective Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor, defective PCM, defective or broken flywheel, defective connectors or defective wiring.
Proper diagnosis is recommended before replacing ANY parts.

2000 dodge stratus 2.5 with code p1391

DTC P1391 fault code is a loss of cam or crank signal to the eng computer; the most common problem is the crank (CKP) sensor goes bad.

Find the crank sensor connector, you'll see the sensor mounted to the bellhousing, it goes down into the housing and reads off the flexplate. When it acts up, unplug the connector. Check the voltage on the yellow wire, it should have 8v. Plug the sensor back in and recheck the voltage. If it drops out replace the sensor. Check for ground on the black/green wire. If this and the 8v are ok, put a paperclip into the backside of the connector on the third wire in the connector and contact the terminal. Put one voltmeter lead there, the other lead on chassis ground. turn the engine over slowly by hand and the voltage should toggle from 0-5v. If it doesn't, replace the sensor.

If sensors are new and wiring is good, you are looking at a computer failure. Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer. Thank you for using FixYa.

I just replaced the timing chain set on this 02 Durango with 4.7. Now it is hard starting, jerks under load and sets codes 340 and 344. I didn't touch the cam sensor during the replacement. I know the...

You must have your distributor out one tooth. Or else the chain is out one tooth. When you aim a timing light at the mark, if the mark is jumping around, your chain is wrong.
If neither of those, then check your firing order, and make sure all the plug wires are on firmly, and are not damaged.
