Have u checked w/ scan tool for codes? If not, have garage, dealer, or parts store (free service at most parts stores) check for stored codes, and as u know, Chrysler is known for their c_rappy trannys,. I just had mine rebuilt at 125k (I changed the fluid and filter every 30k, but still failure). Limp mode is to protect from further damage, so something is going on. If no stored codes, drop the trans pan, check for metal in pan and on magnet, color of fluid, burnt odor? Let me know what u find. good luck

THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR P1776..SOLENOID SWITCH VALVE LATCHED IN THE LOW/REVERSE POSITION..YOU NEED TO HAVE SCANNED AGAIN AND HAVE "EVENT DATA" READ..
LOOKING FOR TRS CODE..IF IT READS TR2,YOU NED TO HAVE TRANS SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT CHECKED AND FOR BINDING AS WELL..IF IT READS OD,VALVE BODY OF TRANS MAY HAVE A STICKING SOLENOID SWITCH VALVE IN VALVE BODY..ALSO IF TRS CODE LEADS YOU TO VALVE BODY ISSUE..YOU NEED TO HAVE SOLENOID PACK BUILD DATE CODE CHECKED..IF IT FALLS IN A CERTAIN DATE,YOU REPLACE THE SOLENOID PACK,NOT THE VALVE BODY..A GOOD TRANS SHOP OR CHRYSLER DEALER WILL BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THIS PROBLEM..ALSO TCM IS PART OF PCM ON THIS YEAR VEHICLE AND YOU CANNOT SWAP ONE FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE..BUT I DON'T THINK YOU HAVE A CONTROLLER ISSUE..THE LH VEHICLES I HAVE SEEN WITH THIS PROBLEM THE SOLENOID PACK ON TOP OF THE VALVE BODY IS THE TROUBLE..I WORK AS A CHRYSLER TECH..13 YEARS EXPERIENCE

Hello, Had the same problem but i did just the opposite I put a 2002 engine in a 2000. I found out that the cam sensor spocket (for the timing belt) Has the holes for the cam sensor in a different spots causing all kinds of problems also they did the same with the flex plate so I hope you took the one off the 2002 and used it or you will have to pull it back out and change it. Good luck
