Sometimes the security system can shut off your starter. Other times, a new starter does not match up with the correct frequency of the security system and can cause a starter failure. Read up on this site. Check to see if the security light is on. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

I can't get my 1997 cadillac deville to start. It has been sitting for a couple of years with no activity

If it wont crank over the battery might be to weak to start the car but just have enoughf juice to run the electronics in the car.
Or the starter died.
1st charge the battery up and see if that works.
2nd if the fully charged battery dosent solve the problem then replace the starter.

I gotta 2005 cadillac cts and when I try to start

have a load test done on the battery as the readings mat be fully charged but if there is a bad cell then the moment that you engage the starter the voltage drops to below 6 volts. Ensure that the battery posts and terminals are shiny clean.

Wont start

If your battery is fully charged it sounds like you have a starter issue. The solenoid is clicking but the starter motor is fried.

1996 Audi A4 1.8 petrol. Turn ignition key and engine starts , runs 2 secs and cuts out need to keep doing this until it finaly starts. Seems to be getting worse.

Car getting started then cuts off after 2 seconds. Its starter related issue.Either the starter is faulty or battery to starter connection is loose or got short in between. It has to be checked and replaced.Get the voltage checked from battery to starter. The battery should show 12 volts if fully charged.

My 1993 cadillac eldorado is cranking slow and i just change the alternator

If the battery is fully charged but the starter is slow, the starter may have an internal short or may just be worn out. Make sure your battery is fully charged and the battery terminals are clean and tight though before buying a new starter.

My 1996 Jeep Cherokee will not start. It has a fully charged battery. When I turn the ignition all the dash lights come on but the engine wont turn over does not even click

First remove the connectors from the battery. Make sure the battery terminals and the connectors are clean and free of corossion. Try to start the vehicle again. If nothing then I would say it is a faulty starter. By the way always replace the selonoid (bendix) when you replace the starter.

My 1996 cadillac eldorado says battery no charge now hard to turn but it cranks right up

Most likely you need a new battery but do this first. Remove the battery ground connection and the positive connection. Clean them with soda water(coke is sticky but all sodas will work). Scrape or sand the inside of the cable connectors and the outside of the battery posts till they are shiny. A low battery light usually means it is not fully charged or taking a charge optimally but effective troubleshooting the battery and starting system starts with clean, secure connections and a fully charged battery. If your battery has electrolyte filling caps undo them and check the level. If they need topping off use distilled water only. Charge the battery with a car battery charger. It should read about 13.4 Volts under no load. Check and clean the battery negative cable connection to the block and the positive connection to the starter solenoid. Check for good connections to the charging output from the alternator. Inspect all wires for kinks, cracking, shorts, ect. A good once over will reveal probem wiring. Reinstall the battery and cables. Giv'er a crank and see if that is not stronger. Drive it for an hour or so and crank it again. Any noticable degradation in cranking power means you have a bad battery, alternator, diode pack if applicable, voltage reguator, or any combination of the three. Take your alternator and battery to your auto parts dealer. They will usually test them for free. Aslo, starters can wear after time but this is most likely not your problem based on the symptoms.

Wont start help!

Recheck the charge on the battery, make sure it's fully charged.Check all connections at the battery and at the starter.Possibly a bad starter. If the starter is ruled out, then look at the teeth on the flexplate/flywheel.I would remove the starter and test it.
