It sounds like the cooling fans may be seized and need replacing.there is a fan relay in the relay box under the hood, but they don`t go bad too often.if you run jumper wires to were the fan plug connects(one power and one ground) the fans should work.if not then the fans need replacing.

that fan works when the a/c is working to supply more air flow to cool off the condensor(a/c rad)

No,it sounds like you have taken the correct steps here.these 3.1 engines run a little hot, the fans will not come on until the temp reachs over three quater the way on the gauge, they are also prone to a bad temp sender, this is located on the rear head near the trany, but if its overheating and you have bleed the system then theres a problem, when i say overheating i mean the gauge goes to hot and coolant boils over and out the resivior, if this is the case then the next thing would be to have a block test done, these engine are also known for headgasket problems, this is when exhaust enters the cooling system and stops the flow causing it to overheat, a quick test to see if the fans are operating correctly and the relay also is to start the engine and then disconnect the coolant temp sensor and fans should run, if the fans turn on then have the test done, this test is done by draining coolant down a little then theres a tube that holds the fluid that sits on radiator where the cap is and if exhaust is entering then the fluid will turn yellow and this means a head or gasket problem.good day.

if im out looking at the engine is it on the right side...just the left fan one came on when i unpluged the temp sensor on the housing were the thermostat is..well the right fan come on if i unplug the right side temp by the trany

No, the other sensor is just for the gauge, the other fan only operates with the ac, the fan turned on which means the cooling fan circuit is good, the other fan is for the ac system, to test that one start engine and turn ac on, fan should turn on if ac is working but for now we need to get the fan for the coolant to work and this fan is working so the next test is the block test to see if exhaust is entering the cooling system, then we can go from there, good day.

Heat not working

I would change the sending unit for the temp gauge make sure that is full of coolant take the radiator cap start it fill coolant until the the thermostat opend to be sure it did. Then make the coolant is circulating and make sure it is full. The heater core could also be plugged

Engine cooling fan will not opperate

check that you have a thermal switch to switch on the fan and not a temp sender unit. One completes the curcuit when a set temp is reached ,the other is a resistance unit that lowers the voltage which in turn reads hotter on the gauge.

Cooling fans not working at all i have replaced the relays and thermostat. what else could be wrong

Most likely a bad coolent temp sensor. To check unplug coolent temp sensor while vehicle is running and see if fans come on. If fan comes on replace coolent temp sensor.

Engine coolent temp circuit high input. what is

More than likely the fan switch in the radiator has failed or the fan itself has failed / is not running, so the water returning from the radiator to the engine is HOT therefore you are seeing the high coolant temp input indication. Check out the operation of your radiator fan.

If the fan circuit is OK then the water temp thermostat may very well be be stuck closed.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I changed thermostat and vehicle still over heats

make sure the fans are kicking on. could be a bad relay on the fans. also another possibility would be that it isnt actually overheating, but the coolant temp sensort could be bad and giving you false readings. i had the same problem in my car befor. i changed the thermostat, the housing, the fans, and it turned out to be the sensor itself.

My temperature gage is going over in the red and my heat is not

Check the sensor which controls the cooling fans that cools the radiator it prevents the engine from over heating and allows the temp gauge to stay at normal range.recently had problems with my 2003 impala overheating it was the sensor had the thermostat replace as well.

Coolent light and check engine light

Your thermostat will not affect the heat in your car. This is controlled by the heater core which is pulled from coolant from the engine where the coolant will be the hottest. Your thermostat opens and allows the coolant from the engine to circulate into the radiator and the coolant from the radiator flow into the engine. A thermostat is cheap and easy to replace. The sensor should be a fairly inexpensive and easy replacement as well. I would change out the sensor first because bad thermostat would create an overheating problem.

Radiator Electric Fan Motor on a 2003 Buick Century won't come on when temp gets high

I have a 1997 Buick Century with the same problem. Both my fans work if the A/C is
on as they should. If your turn off the A/C the passanger side fan will not come on
and at an idle the coolant in the radiator will boil, you can hear it in the overflow tank.
If you are driving there is enough air flow thru the radiator that the coolant doesn't
boil and the car doesn't overheat. I have replace the water pump, the thermostat.
and the ETS or engine temperature sensor mounted just above the thermostat in
the thernostat housing, to no avail, I still have the same problem. The only other
thing is the coolant level sensor in the radiator, which I haven't replace yet due
to the fact you have to pull the radiator in order to replace it, which is a major
undertaking. I have a low coolant indicator on all the time on the dash so I have
a pretty good idea the coolanat level sensor is bad. The coolant level is not low
so that sensor is not working as it should. I hope this may help with your problem.
To test you fan raise the hood when it is cold and top off the radiator and fill the
overflow tank to the cold mark. Start the car and let it idle with the A/C off and
see if the drivers side fans comes on. It will have to get to operating temp
before the fan will come on. If it doesn't come on replace the radiator low coolant
sensor on the passanger side of the radiator. If that doesn't fix the problem
replace the thermostat and the Engine Temperature Sensor at the thermostat
housing with an A/C Delco Engine Temperature Sensor. Good Luck..
