I own a 4cyl, 5spd.stnd. Pontiac Pursuit g5, I'm leaking engine coolant from passenger side firewall from a spout. I have to top it up every 2days, why is it leaking...it never did before.

It sounds like the heater core has a leak in it and the leak is flowing out the heater-a/c air box through the drain spout.the heater core will have to be replaced.

it does not use antifreeze. you will need to buy Dexccol premixed 50/50 coolant. There is no universal coolant, use Dexcool only, it is red. you should never ever add water, only premixed coolant.
the premixed is good to -40 degrees F.
Very often the cause of coolant being expelled from the reservoir is due to a faulty head gasket leaking compression air into the water jackets. When the engine stops circulating the coolant, with the water pump, the bubbles collect together in the radiator as they rise to the top. Then the hot compressed air passes through the pressure relief valve (often radiator cap) and enters the reservoir, thereby blowing coolant out of the overflow tube.
Was the coolant old and weak? At ten degrees, a weak coolant could result in freezing and that can cause an engine freeze plug to burst open. Check the side of the engine block for signs of leakage around the freeze plugs. Another possibility is the heater hoses. They run along the passenger side of the engine as well. The last possibility is the heater core. If it leaks you may smell coolant inside the passenger compartment. You MAY get a wet floorboard on the passenger side. Coolant leaking from the core usually will fall into the condensation pan for the A/C and run out of the passenger compartment thru the firewall on the passengers side.

It is either under the hood, on the passenger side. Its located in a black box that has either a lightning bolt on it, or says fuses. the box is near the battery if that helps. or It is in the fuse box - located on the left side of the dash board.
Both brain sturgeons are wrong. Your heater core is leaking and the coolant is coming out of the heater box where the condensation from the a/c usually exits.
